franchise help -budget questions.
So I am big into franchise. I started one with Houston and my first year I dumped all big contracts and going into 2016 I had 60 million to spend. After signing my guys and coach's I still had near 40 million. I wanted to go after a high priced player who I offered maybe 15 million a year to but every time I do the next day it says I can't afford it and it's been with drawn. What am I missing ? I heard it's because my roster is not full. I even try signing a bunch of crap cheap guys to fill my roster and it won't even let me do that. It tells me they have been voided as well. Maybe I am not understanding the budgetTags: None -

Me to. But then if I am making a trade during the season and let's say I have 15 million of space I can use all that to trade for someoneComment

Re: franchise help -budget questions.
tabarnes19 will have to chime in.....but the game automatically "reserves"(it's not really shown anywhere) budget $$$ to sign your contract renewable players and arb eligible.
It definitely is a little confusing as you will say exactly what you guys are saying..."I have the money!!!! WTF!?"...but it's the games safeguard when you don't have your roster at a certain number.
They should have a separate screen that lists
-entire org. roster slots
-players contract renewable and arb eligible with dollar amounts and offers
-players offered contracts with $$$ amounts...
Something like this...
1.......Player.....contract renewable $$$..............offer$$$......$$$ available
2.......Player2.......arb estimate.......................offer.............a vailable
3.......Player3(FA)............................... ............offer.............
continued until you have open slots down to 90. Any open slot would have the $$$ the minimum salary.
As you make offers....the $$$ available would drop(this is now on the contract offer screen...but without the "set aside money" included.
I'm not showing the best example....but the current contract screen should show estimated $$$ as well as offers so you realize where and how much money you need up and above making FA offers.

I totally agree. They should just show me The amount of money I have and then the amount "estimated" after everything to at least give me idea what I am working with lol I see 40 million available but it could be more like 15. It's just annoyingComment

Re: franchise help -budget questions.
why I turn budgets offThere no salary cap in MLB and budgets are awful in game so easier just to turn off. Make your own budget and stick with it.

Like Knight said it safe guards you so you can fill the roster. There was a guide at one point someone posted.
In simple terms if you want to sign players. Add players to your 40 man. The system needs to know you can fill the 40 man. If you have 36-37 players on the 40 man it allows you to sign free agents. It also reserves money for arbitration players.
Like I said try this guide it is done well.
