    Clayton Kershaw really?

So I'm playing RTTS in my second yr as a 3B on the dodgers having an MVP caliber season the team is leading the NL west 56-34 following a 101 win season up with another great year. Then it happened all of a sudden right at allstar break the team decides to trade Clayton Kershaw (99 ovr) (6-7) for Johnny Cueto (92 ovr) (8-6), Todd Frazier (83 ovr), and a RP I forget whom... My question is why? The ovr's make sense but why? Kershaw is the franchise and true his numbers are bad this year, but he's coming off a season where he won over 20 games... Another weird thing is he made the allstar game with a 6-7 record lol! I guess the point of this is to get some of you guys stories about some crazy trades in your RTTS. Also I would like to know if this is a logic error or good management in the front office in you guys opinions. It was kinda shocking to me so I had to share!

The game does not recognize names...only needs of a team, contract, etc.

OK I can understand that, but Frazier plays 3rd and so do I my character is a 99 ovr and we also have A-rod, so I dont get what our need could've been. I just dont think we had a big enough need with the team the way it was. Kershaw is the best pitcher in the game as well. I'm so confused lol!

I know that's always the excuse, but I think the game should have programming in it to recognize franchise players in their prime and protect them. Players have potential ratings, I think each team should possibly have a couple franchise tagged players. I'm not saying they should never be traded, but definitely a lot less often and mostly only during a contract year.

maybe it was contracts? maybe kershaw is on his final year and the gm thinks he wants way too much money so might as well trade him and get something for him than letting him go free.

Yeah that's a pretty stupid trade all the way around, Dodgers wouldn't do it and the Reds wouldn't take on or could even take on that contract. Was hoping this kind of stuff was finally fixed, but they say every year its better and its typically not. Its that way in every sports game, so its not just MLBTS that have stupid unrealistic trades and moves.

That kind of stuff is why I don't play RTTS and only play 30 team franchise control, because while this stuff will never be perfect, it should be better than it is though, not just in this game but in all sports games.

And again, MLB The Show does not care if "a real life team would never do the trade". The game does not look at it that way.

They look at need, playoff push or rebuild, age, overall, potential, the money, etc.

The game doesn't say "OMG we can't trade Kershaw cause he's amazing and they would never do it in real life".

Yes, I know that's been stated over an over, but it don't make it right. There should be a way of looking at his overall, stats, etc and something say don't trade. Small market like the Reds with the payroll they already have wouldn't take that on IRL nor should it in a video game. Possibly if he was in the last yr of his deal, and a playoff push a team like the would if they have the prospects, but this wasn't that type of trade, considering they trade Cueto and Frazier. Video game or not that is a ridiculous trade all the way around.

That shouldn't be too difficult to code into the game to be honest.

They should do as NBA2k has done in their franchise where the user can approve/deny CPU trades, but make it across all modes.

I agree 10,000% NCoffey! Very frustrating as a Dodger fan when the AI decides to trade Joc Pederson, Julio Urias or Corey Seager. Are you kidding me?

Just give us option to approve/disapprove trade...very simple.

By the way, I am talking about RTTS. I realize 30 team control takes care of the issue in Franchise for example.

Could have a player popularity rating, with GMs less likely to trade the more popular players.

If Kershaw hasn't lead LA to a World Series title yet, then I suppose they're doing what they think will get them to the promised land.
No matter how good Kershaw is as an individual.
