Expired Pause Timer Causing Automatic Forfeits In Online Games

I just finished an online game that was still tied going into the 12th inning, and I needed to access the bullpen screen because I had just pinch-hit for my pitcher in the previous half-inning. But right before I could select a new pitcher, the game automatically ended in a forfeit, presumably, because my pause timer ran out:

I understand that there is a pausing time limit in place to prevent griefing, but when a game is that close and goes on for that long, there's going to be a lot of time taken up by micromanaging your pitchers, hitters, and runners. My opponent probably would have forfeited, too, if he had been forced to go into his bullpen again, at this point in the game.

Perhaps Sony San Diego could add 1 extra minute to each team's pause timer for every inning after the ninth? That would give people enough time to make changes in extra inning games, without something stupid like this ruining a close battle.
