Has PCI taken a step back this year?

I know hitting has been "improved" this year but for the life of my I can't figure this out. In 14 I had no issues with hitting and when I got solid contact the ball got driven somewhere. The issue that I feel I'm seeing is the PCI not being as precise as it's been past years. When I track the ball out of the pitchers hand while he pitches I follow the ball through the zone or out. I'm still working the count as I can recognize balls and strikes but on swing attempts I'm either fouling it off (which has to to with timing but that's another issue all together) but many times I would track it through till I swing and it would be just a weak dribbler to an infielder or a pop up to shallow OF. This is the same process that I used to hit in 14 and was successful then. But many of three times I swing for this weak contact I'm right on the pitch with the PCI. When going back to previous pitches while holding r2 the game shows that my PCI is either way above or way below where it was when I attempted the swing. Like the game doesn't recognize controller input like it's supposed to. Is anyone else having these issues? I may have to go to directional hitting or something if I can't fix this.

If you're talking about timing hitting, it's been that way since MLB '13 when they opened up the timing window.

I mean this is all coding. I am starting to wonder if the new pitch breaks and trajectories are affecting the existing bat paths, meaning that the bat paths were not adjusted or not fully adjusted to deal with the new and improved ball movement.

Pitching is really nice in this game. I know in previous versions it was suicide to pitch up or down the middle but this year I have no fear of firing a 4 seam full button press right down the heart of the plate and getting a swing and a miss from the cpu.

The problem seems to be this great pitching is screwing up the batting.

My timing doesn't seem like the issue, it's me hitting the ball with the PCI in the ball and hitting a weak ball. Then after that going back and reviewing and swing the PCI not being in the same place as when I actually made contact with the ball. Like it's under/over the ball. Like bl8001 said it may be a coding issue. Cause my rtts pitcher is fine.

I thought it was just me lol. In years past, I've just left the PCI in the middle of the zone and worked from there. Going past & checking my swings after every pitch, the game seems to be moving the PCI for me automatically. Not cool

With zone the game always moved your PCI some degree based on your timing. I think people notice it more because the PCI feedback is actually showing up in the zone as opposed to being transposed to another OSD where I always felt the PCI feedback displayed was not accurate.

Basically your PCI will rise above center if you are early and will sink below center when you are late which is accurate to an actual bat moving through a zone in relation to the ball based on the timing.

I do think rise and fall are more dramatic this year in regards to your timing.

makes sense, I guess I really paid attention because it wasn't as dramatic as this yr
