    Season vs. Franchise

I care nothing at all about minor league players, as I only play a single year. All I want is an accurate roster to play a single season. By accurate roster, I mean every starter that is expected to play. I make this clarification because I know some players start on the DL and are in the minors when the live rosters are released. However, I want those players on the active roster, because they are only expected to miss a short time.

What is the best way for me to accomplish this? Will I be missing anything but minors playing a season vs. a franchise?

You and I play the game in a very similar manner. I only really care about the wins and losses in one season, I only really care about who wins in the playoffs and who loses. For that reason I play with Season and not Franchise. The only downside to doing this though is if you do play with injuries on (I played with them turned on in MLB 14), there is always that chance that your team or any other team in the league could be hit hard at a specific position and as a result be pretty thin in the depth department if the injured players go on the DL. In Season mode we only have access to the players on the 40-man rosters whereas if you played a full Franchise replacing the players is not an issue because you have access to the full minor league system (remember though if you use the rosters from SCEA the majority of minor league players are fake not real people versus the OSFM rosters which are the real people trying to make it to The Show). Also if you do start your Season using the updated real world rosters from SCEA, there will be missing on these updated rosters that are not on default rosters and of course you will get new players not on the default roster. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I made the decision this year to use the best possible players for every team and while I know injuries are a big part of the real game, this year I will play with them turned off. Because I choose to play with the best possible players, I started my Season with the default roster from SCEA with the exception that I exported all the well known 2015 rookies from an OSFM roster I got from the MLB 14 vault (rookies like Kris Bryant) and then imported them into my modified default roster. Remember when you start a Season (or a Franchise) you always have a choice at what rosters to use which includes the default roster that never changes even if you download weekly roster updates and once the Season (or Franchise) begins, the rosters are not updated by these weekly rosters from SCEA.

I do not play with injuries.

How do you handle the guys that start the year on the DL? For example, Homer Bailey will not be on the Opening Day roster, but will be back in a week or 2 and is the Reds #2 starter, so he will play a huge role in the team.

Thanks for this, I was wondering the tradeoffs too.

Homer Bailey is on the Red's default roster from SCEA and he is not injured on this roster.

There are a lot of real world pitchers out for the entire season this year with the infamous Tommy John surgery, and yet the vast majority of these pitchers exist in the default roster and are uninjured. I you waited for the roster updates from SCEA in a week or two, I would think Bailey would be on it, he might be assigned to the Reds AAA team though. But guys like the Mets Zack Wheeler should not be on the updated roster. The only downside to using the default roster is that you will not have the high profile 2015 rookies in the game unless you were able to do what I did which as explained was to export them from a MLB 14 roster before importing them into my MLB 15 roster.

I assume you're referring to rookies that don't make the roster. Won't the rookies that do make it be on the SCEA roster?

SCEA can not include the likenesses of players who even though they appear to be a locks on making their respective teams until these players play at least one game at the Major League level. That is why guys like Kris Bryant are not in the default rosters. Wait about a month and I am sure Bryant will appear in one of the weekly roster updates and other rookies set to play their first Major Leagues Games come Monday will be in a roster update in less time, probably two weeks from now.

It is a six of one, half a dozen of the other scenario. I chose to use the default roster as my base because it gave me all the best possible players, and then I import the high profile rookies from a 2015 OSFM roster set I got from the MLB 14 vault (BTW thanks to SookieBunny for all his hard work).

Any other differences besides roster size?

A lot more General Manager tasks are required in Franchise mode, but as far as playing baseball games are concerned, no.

                    Like what?

I seem to remember scouting players being one, but that was a few years ago. Haven't played a season or franchise in a while.

                      Re: Season vs. Franchise

Probably best for some Franchise folks to chime in here. I am a Season mode guy. But if I am not mistaken in Franchise they can play Minor League games, they need to train their players, they can use sponsorships in the Franchise and of course scouting and sending players up and down the organization. But when it comes to playing the games at the Major League level there is no difference between the two modes. Oh and you can play more than one season in Season mode (though I never bothered as I tend to use the same rosters that the real world teams use).

Could someone please tell me where I can sign my drafted rookies, I can't find the option.
