How good, or bad are you?

It's that time of year again, after a few days of MLB The Show I always find myself trying to figure out my perfect settings. I really hate this 'portion of the program' because I just want to play the game an not mess around with difficulty levels, sliders, etc. However, one of the things that always helps me determine my settings, for whatever reason or another, is the member input here. I like to compare what you guys are using as settings, sliders, difficulty levels etc.

I always have trouble deciding if I need to pitch on All-Star or Hall of Fame. I've pitched on Hall of Fame for the last few iterations of The Show but the problem I always have is getting a realistic number of strikeouts for my pitchers. However, on All-Star every one of my starters might as well by Cy Young reincarnated.

What exactly changes when we change the difficulty level? Does anyone know for sure? I'm not sure if all the CPU players simply have a ratings increase under the hood or what it is. But I'd sure like to know.

*Forgot the friggin' poll. Oh, well.

I have everything set at all star. Rtts is going good. Guy rated 60 hitting about .450 over first 15 games. Change up gets me lots if I get too agressive. Slow curves are easier to sit back on. Still in AA so not sure if I should crank up to HOF or ride it out till I get to AAA and see what that brings for hitting. Played a couple exibition games same settings at all star and lost them both with late inning bull pen collapse. Only scored 6 runs in two games.

I consider myself a seasoned veteran of The Show at this point but I must admit I'm becoming exceptionally frustrated with my inability to score runs. I have scored one run or fewer over my last SIX games! And most of those runs are solo home runs. I cannot string together any hits at all and I'm striking out like Javier Baez with a blindfold on against Clayton Kershaw.

Ive been using Armour & Swords sliders and feel the same about pitching. I wish we could get an All Star + like dynamic difficulty has.

My hitting is coming around. Im hitting more HR than i ever have. Might just be that its the first time im not playing with KC though.

I'm on dynamic difficulty with some minor slider adjustments. On veteran CPU strike frequency set to 0 felt about right, I was drawing about 3 walks a game but they still pound the strike zone. I'm on all star+ now and I'm walking about 6 times a game so I'm prepared to move that back up now.

I don't know how other people play obviously, but the people who are struggling I'm guessing they're just pressing a bit. It's easy no matter how experienced or good you are to forget the fundamentals, those play the same on this game just as in the past. Look for one right down the middle, or your happy zone wherever you like to hit, and take everything else as long as you can.The pitcher has to come to you, no need to put pressure on yourself.

I'm honestly not that great at this game and my eye sight and reactions aren't what they were in my 20's, and I'm crushing the ball. It's all about the approach.

I struggle scoring runs thus far but I'm not having issues getting hits.

I seem to score 0-2 runs a lot while still getting 7-10 hits.

Lack of hitting with RISP. I tend to tense up and swing at crap when I get runners on.

Using directional hitting opposed to zone hitting makes the game 1000x easier, to me anyways.

With that said, i can hold my own on HOF using zone, and legend using directional.

Re: How good, or bad are you?

Been using dynamic difficulty since I got the game. Hitting is still Rookie + but almost veteran and pitching is now veteran. Been playing partial games here and there but finished 2 exhibition games. Won the first 2-0, not sure who I was and the second, I was the Dodgers vs. Minnesota.. I won that game 6-0. Kershaw was a machine on the mound. I still have not hit a home run yet, but it will come. In the second game, I had runners at 1st and 2nd with one out. My 7th hitter was up and he was all blue for hot zones. I thought what the hell, play little small ball and successfully bunted them over to 2nd and 3rd on a sac bunt. Boy did the announcers let me hear it, bunting the runners over with 1 out... Lol. So my 8th hitter comes up, couple pitches later, I drive a double to right center gap and score both those runners to go up 2-0 in the second. I was so pumped! Through it back into their face with a clutch hit!

Love dynamic difficulty in my opinion. The more games I get in the more it will settle in to how I play!

I'd say I'm about average, I pitch and hit on all-star. I win about 55-60% of games I think.

So why not just use dynamic difficulty?

I really like dynamic difficulty. I think it's more fine tune right now I'm on rookie hitting and veteran pitching and I still lose
