Runners sliding into bases on base hits

This has happened more than a few times where I have a runner on second and I get a base hit so I try and score the runner but he is still on third because he slid into it for some reason when he didn't even have to. Same for runners on first base, get a hit and send him to third but he slides into second base and therefore I don't advance the runner. Frustrating because it's hard enough to score and when I get hits I expect a runner to try and score but he slides instead of rounding the base. I have running on assist if you were wondering. Just curious if others are seeing this

It was an issue last year for some people when stealing from 1st. Ive never had an issue with it though.

I never had an issue last year, it's not like it happens every time but enough for me to notice it, especially with more than one runner on base

Hold L2 until your baserunner passes third and is on his way home. You may have to individually tell the guy passing first on his way to second to go back though.

Happened again, I had a man on second, get a hit with Iannetta and I immediately target the runner and tell him to go home but instead slides into third.... smh another RBI opportunity missed

This happens to me a lot when I try to control the baserunners. Its much better if you go auto, but then you face the problem of your guys getting picked off way too often. In last year's game, I would have slow players that I would NEVER send on a steal attempt get picked off first all the time. Drove me nuts.

Try changing your baserunner settings to classic, and see what happens. I believe that setting works like it should when used correctly.

I use classic BR and do not have that problem at all.

I use default baserunning and no "Auto" anything... and I don't have this problem.

I'm having this problem a lot. I use default base running and whenever I try to send one player to advance (from first to third or second to home) that player almost always slides into the base preventing advancement. This has to be a bug, I created a bug report for it if anyone else is as frustrated as I am. ID: 12457

Are you targeting and cueing the runner to their destination or are you doing it station to station by using L1?

To prevent unwanted slides, hold L1 until the base runner (any baserunner) rounds the base. He'll continue on to the next base, and every one after that, until you release L1.

To make base runners go back to their base(s) hold R1.

I'm a little late to the conversation but I'm having this exact problem too. I've tried the above solution but to no avail. When I hold R1 the baserunner still slides, when he's finally done sliding he has to finish the animation and then run to the next base which by that time is way too late to advance/score

I don't know how it would matter but are you using classic or default base running, and are you playing online or against the computer?

Also, your base running and sliding settings in the option menu must be set to assist, not auto. Everyone's playing the same game so for everyone to not be having the same results means that something isn't set right.

I'm having the same problem, and it's annoying. I cannot tell u how many games I've played and been thrown out at home plate because my baserunner decides to stop at 3rd base for a second or two than proceeds on to home.
