Braves Fans Support Group... Now What?

The only thing I was looking forward to this year was playing small ball (not that we had a choice), using numerous pitchers per game and hoping to have a lead in the 9th so Kimbrel can close it out.

I understand in the real world why the Braves did this, but holy moly, what about us virtual Braves users? What do we do now?

How will we enjoy this game?

While this is a little tongue in cheek, I am really bummed.

The team is blown up, so I'm going to fire John Hart and become the GM and rebuild right away. I've got some favorite players around the league that I would like on the team, and I'm going to see what I can do to make it happen within a franchise. I'm not waiting until 2017 lol. OSFM is a big deal for me this year due to most of Atlanta's talent being in the minors, so I'm going to wait on that. And then using those prospects I'm going to target a few players that I want on my team. I'm going to try and keep the core of Freeman, Simmons, Teheran, and Wood, but after that, every one is on notice.

I've played about 10 exhibition games with the Braves and it's been pretty fun with the small ball approach. I won a game against the Padres last night (after the trade) 5-0, scoring 1 run on a solo HR, but the rest were all small ball.

As a suffering Rockies fan, I have little sympathy for Braves fans ... haha ... anyway.

I already executed the trade in my virtual MLB 2015 season and last night Kimbrel was called into the 9th inning of a close CPU vs CPU full broadcast 2-1 Opening Day game between the Padres and the Dodgers and while he did give up a hit and walked another batter to have base runners on 1st and 2nd. He still got the job done which as far as I was concerned was great because somebody needs to keep the Dodgers in check this season.

Oh and at least as far as my virtual season is concerned, Camerin Maybin is happy with the trade. With 30-team control I had actually had sent Maybin down to AAA at the end of Spring Training. But now as a member of the Braves, he's been called back up to the MLB level. He's not good enough to be a starter with the Braves, but his MLB The Show attributes are good enough to send him back to The Show.

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep rolling with the Braves (with Kimbrel, since I use the default roster) or take a year away from my favorite team and go with the Pirates. Or maybe even venture over to the AL.

I can't imagine there's much of a market for him. That signing makes no sense in the context of the rest of the offseason.

I do believe at the time of the Markakis signing, Braves had some hope of competing. Remember at that time, they were trying to sign Yasmany Tomas, but he chose Arizona instead. Then they had eyes on Jon Lester briefly, but he signed Chicago. Since they weren't able to get any free agents to come to Atlanta they threw in the towel and went on the big fire sale.

I like the topic a lot so let's not derail it.

I've always taken the stance that once I begin, my universe begins. So Kimbrel is still a Brave is my universe.

The one thing I struggle with though: I usually set my lineup strictly on the in-game ratings, rather than real life. But that would mean starting Pierzynski and Callaspo instead of Bethancourt and Peterson.

I am actually kind of excited to get my Braves franchise running. I used to really enjoy it because I never got into more than 1 full season before the new game was out, which meant new rosters ...

Now, the Braves are in re-build mode at the perfect time, as game saves are carrying over Y2Y.

OSFM drops, and away I will run .... future looks bright in ATL

I'm pretty excited to use this team on the show this year. Different approach that previous years makes it interesting.

This trade makes center field a bit different now. I think as far as the show is concerned Cameron Maybin will be a better choice. I will probably play around with Gnomes/Young Jr in left.

Regardless of ratings I'm using Bethancourt and Peterson though. Pierzynski will prob DH in my AL games.

Keep in mind if you are not a stickler for "real" rosters you can take Shae Simmons off the DL and use him to close. I prob won't do this because I have a thing with trying to keep it like real life...
