Can no longer afford the contract offered???
So i'm in the offseason and whenever I try to sign a guy the message "Can no longer afford the contract offered" pops up. I have plenty of cap space and not sure if it's a bug or somthing i'm doing wrong. I did some searching and all i could find was stuff from 2013.Tags: None -
Re: Can no longer afford the contract offered???
Could it have to do with the rest of the players on your roster? You may have to keep enough cap space to be able to sign a full roster of players. For example, if you have players eligible for Arbitration, you may have to take that out of your budget first. I don't know this for sure, just speculating. Can you offer him any kind of deal? low dollars? -

tabarnes19 linked an older thread that gave some good info for franchise strategies...(sorry....can't find it on my phone)....
I believe he said to sign and assign your 40 man roster players and this should alleviate the problem.
I want to make a suggestion to SCEA to update the FA/team budget screen to more fully show to the users what's going on. In an effort to help the user GM's from going over budget(by reserving some $$$) they actually confused a lot of people on this front.

Ah, ok. Thank you both. Yeah, I had players on arbitration. I'll be sure to add my guys before hitting FA.Comment

Re: Can no longer afford the contract offered???
This offseason buget issue is pretty complex and confusing, had to spend some hours to figure it out and if it wasn't for the friendly user who created the guide I'd be lost...Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Can no longer afford the contract offered???
Never saw him as a FA. I'm not doing my franchise until OSFM, but i've simmed to the offseason 3 times to see if the Nats will let Zimmerman walk.
Zimmerman hit the market 1/3 and I didn't see Price once.Comment

Re: Can no longer afford the contract offered???
Since you're not scouting until the start of the season, hire the 4 cheapest scouts instead of who you had scouting before. This can get you up to 6 million additional dollars towards your budget and when you're done molding your team in the offseason, you can hire the scouts back that you prevously had no matter how much money you have left in your budget.Spending time with Jesus!
