RTTS as a current player

I know there is no real way to play rtts with one of your gm favorite players but do you guys start a franchise with a certain team, set everything such as injuries, trades, lineups, pitchers to auto and just player lock you favorite current player the whole season?

Yes, there is no "Be a Pro" option like EA's NHL games (maybe Madden has this option too?) where you can take over the career of a current player. Player Lock is the way to do it, probably with 30 team control turned on also, so if the player you want to lock on gets traded you can still play as that player on their new team.
