Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Gonna go with my hometown Braves. The big club is 2 bats away from being a contender. Also they need some bullpen arms. But you have Freeman, Simba, Teheran, and Wood to build around. Also they have a bunch of exciting prospects in the minors. Plus they have a lot of money to throw around in free agency.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Only seen them mentioned twice in this thread and nothing in detail but how about the Indians. You've got three exciting pitchers (Kluber, Carassco, and Bauer) some good bats (Santana, Moss, Kipnis, Brantley) and a good minor league system (Lindor, Frazier, Naquin... Etc.).All Things Cleveland Sports

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I normally play the Marlins because I'm a Miami fan (NFL too), but this year I switched to play the Astros.
I chose them because it's going to be a challenge and it's not as much 'fun' as playing the Marlins, so far, because I don't know the team, or their history or yet feel any particular attachment to them.
I'm watching them on TV every chance I get to try to form that 'bond' which will make me more invested in the franchise. It'll come. :wink:Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I'm halfway through my 3rd season with the Twins...but with the new GM contracts I may have to reevaluate my strategy when it comes to Franchise. I like to take over a terrible/low budget team and tear them completely down and rebuilt through the draft/trades for prospects/bargain hunting in free agency. But halfway through year 3 I've got a GM grade of F so i'm curious to see if I get fired.
(this is just a test franchise I did before OSFM dropped so I've got a little strategy on what to roll with when I get into a long term franchise).Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Settled on controlling the Reds after considering a bunch of teams.
There is major pop in the lineup, dynamic lead off hitter in Billy Hamilton(bases clearing triple lead to a 3-2 Opening Day win), Johnny Cueto at the top of the rotation, and of course a closer who throws heat.
Now the trouble will be winning with a crap rotation and bullpen. If we are competing by the All-Star break we trade for pitching help. If not we explore the market for Cueto and Phillips.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I'm biased... but I love playing with the A's this year. Not because of the team on the field but because of the stadium ambiance the SCEA team created.
Every year I play with another team because the stadium atmosphere has never felt remotely close to real-life. However, this year they nailed it! From the drums, horns and chants to how the lighting is awesomely done. You really get the feeling there is a crowd cheering for you every home game.
On the field, if you like pitching, then you will love the A's. We are stacked with pitching. Unfortunately, the hitting aspect of the team could use some tweaking via trades.Last edited by RunN1st; 04-13-2015, 03:10 PM."The older I get, the faster I was!"

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I'll be rolling with the Yankees, but using the 30 team control feature. While I'll mostly play all the Yankee games, I realized that if a team needs that extra push toward the playoffs in september, I can play with that team too. Pretty cool.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I did the Astros last year and I am still playing with them. This year I picked the Rays and it should be fun. Their pitching is good enough for me to win now, but I may struggle offensively.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Was thinking about starting one with the Mets or Tigers. Big Tigers fan but just think the mets would be fun to build with all the talent they have at SP.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I have one franchise with my favorite team as my main franchise which is the Cardinals.
If I were to start other franchises I would go O's and Mets. I may even just do it to where I control all three teams. Idk.
If I am going for a team to build up but still has nice pieces on the roster I would go with the Reds, A's or D-Backs.MLB: Cardinals
NCAA: Sooners
NFL: Titans
NBA: ThunderComment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
So my favorite team is the Red Sox but I started a franchise with the Reds. They had decent hitting, great speed, some good pitching with one pitching Ace and two pitching prospects. I like it.
I had thought about the Cubs, Marlins, Mets, and Astros but they just didn't feel right.
Cubs: I hate Jon Lester and I felt like Kris Bryant doesn't need to develop and he's already ready for the majors.
Marlins: I feel like the team is pretty much already ready to make a playoff run. Stanton, Yelich, Fernandez.
Mets: I can't play any New York teams as a Sox fan.
Astros: I played the Astros last year.
The only other team I thought about going with was the Pirates as I like their prospects and I love Marte, but ultimately I chose the Reds.
I don't know, now that OSFM is out I'm having a tough time settling down with a team to build into a contender.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I want to throw in two more unlikely teams that I discovered to be potentially "exciting" (thus not making my choice easier).
Keep in mind I want to be somewhat competitive in the first season already...
1. Texas Rangers
Not bad hitting wise, roster isn't too old, weak bullpen and besides Darvish who is a real ace mediocre SP. Don't know much abt their farm systems but I read somewhere it's max to be considered average. Maybe they are a trade (for SP) away from contention. I'd play without injuries btw.
2. Colorado Rockies
Very good hitting, Poor pitching, which definitely needs to be improved via trade. Therefore I could trade for Cole Hamels and another good reliever from somewhere. Not sure if it'd be enough tho...
What do you guys think about those teams, would my plans to compete for the postseason be unrealistic chosing one of those two??Spending time with Jesus!
