I'm surprised at how many use auto-fielding. I don't think I could ever use it, I have too much fun fielding and having control over the game. It's a very satisfying feeling making a diving stop and throwing a runner out. I feel like i'm cheating enough just by using timing hitting and not zone.

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
I wish they'd have a fielding option with no assists. I don't want my player to get a running start before I take control of him and I don't want suction cups taking over when I get to a fly ball. They make fielding too easy and thus not nearly as engaging/fun as it should be. It's no wonder why over half of players play on auto fielding.
1. Don't pre run for my fielder
2. Zero suction cups for fly balls
3. Make fly ball marker smaller and more engaging to make playsComment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
Manual fielding for me and analog throwing. Fielding is my favorite part of the game. Running down a tough fly ball or turning two never gets old. I like Analog for throwing because I find it more intuitive -- I used to get 2nd and home mixed up all the time when I used buttons for throwing.Comment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
Ive never used Auto Fielding until this year. Seems like there are a lot of balls hit over SS/2B that i dont have enough control over the fielder to get to. But the CPU can get to them. I still use manual throwing though.Comment

I'm using auto field/manual throw for franchise play, at least until I gain some proficiency in my fielding because I am admitedly not very good at it right now. RTTS is my practice ground for that.Comment

I use auto fielding with manual throwing. I would have way too many unrealistic fielding miscues with manual!Comment

Manual. I want to earn my outs. Auto feels like cheating to me.Comment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
I mainly play franchise, so I want the game to reflect my players statistics as much as possible while still letting me pitch and bat. So auto fielding/throwing it is, along with classic pitching and directional (but not using any direction) hitting. Keeping a good rotation/bullpen/lineup matters and drafting/trades are more important.
I found when I user most of the game, I could bring a AA team against a MLB team and still win by a large margin. I want team management to matter.Comment

Auto. The most important part of the game for me, & what I mostly focus on, is the pitcher-batter matchup.
It helps add to the immersion, as a pitcher, to have to rely on one's teammates.T-BONE.

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
I use auto fielder in franchise, just like it a lot better, auto fielder but I make the throws. I am more about being the pitcher, pitching a great game, plus it looks a lot better. Obviously do my own fielding in DD, but I prefer auto for aesthetic reasons...If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.Comment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
When possible, I use auto-fielding. Sadly, fielding is the one outstanding flaw in this otherwise perfect baseball sim. I don't know how, but somehow even the fielding in arcade baseball games is better, more intuitive. I'm hoping that they're just waiting to address this issue along with the general lack of advancements in animations once they stop developing for PS3 and move on to a new game engine.Comment
