    Button throwing, no feedback

I haven't totally figured the red meter out yet. I'm using buttons with no feedback. I thought the longer you held the button , the harder the throw and potentially the less accurate.
I'm finding on routine groundballs to 2nd, I pre-load the throw with an easy, short push of the button while grounder is on it's way. It seems like this has the 2nd basemen gun it over hard. Just had a game where he threw one in the dugout.
    What am I missing?

If you too quick then the (hidden) meter doesn't go into the green causing inaccurate throws. If I'm understanding this correct.
