New To The Show...I'm Hitting Too Many Foul Balls.

I haven't played a baseball game since MLB Triple Play. Tried MLB 2K hated it and the last Sony MLB game I played was MLB on the PS1.

I am not a huge baseball fan like I was in the 90s anymore and I know foul balls are very common in baseball but for some reason I feel like I am hitting too many of them. Played HR Derby last night and majority of times I was hitting foul balls...especially with right handed batters. Is this normal?

What hitting mode are you using? Have you experimented with any of the others? Have you checked the swing feedback? Hard to say without knowing more, like if you're constantly early or late, if you're using zone and you're just not squaring it up, etc.

I use the buttons to hit. Square buttons for power sometimes I hit with the X or Circle buttons.

I am finding the timing window to be extremely small in this years game. I would suggest adjusting the difficulty and hitting sliders until you find your groove (although I'm still searching for mine).

You can also try utilizing dynamic difficulty and it will scale to your ability.

If you're swinging with the power button the majority of the time then I think you answered your own question.

            What is dynamic difficultly?

The thing is I don't hit with the square all the time.

One thing to keep in mind is, the pitches in HR Derby and pre-game batting practice are not full speed. You literally gave to "wait back" on those pitches. There's definitely different timing, from in regular gameplay.

Also, the power swing (square) is actually the slower of the swing types.

Simply turn down your human foul frequency slider one to two clicks to the left.

                  Problem solved.

Dynamic difficulty scales the difficulty level for pitching and batting independently based on your performance each inning.

You start on rookie for each and progress (regress) from there. You can adjust the dynamic difficulty slider as well so the impact is realized more quickly or slowly depending on your preference. Also, once you get it to a point you are happy with turn the slider to zero to lock it in place.

                      I'm a n00b at this as well.
Dynamic difficulty might be the way to go. You start off on Rookie (or is it Rookie+) and as you get better the difficulty goes up. It's great, but I've found that when I get to All Star, hitting is very hard.
I've also found this post helpful with my hitting.
When I started I was trying to hit everything out of the park. Now I have learned to be really patient and look hard for what to leave and what to hit. I use Directional hitting, but without the 'directional' part - it's supposed to be like the older 'timing' method - so I can just concentrate on one thing. I've also turned off the strike zone and hot spots, so I can really focus on the pitcher and the ball. I use the Catcher camera, but I will look at others in time.
