Bases not being covered for double play.

I'm not the only one seeing bases left uncovered during double play attempts am I? I was kinda shocked to not find a bug report on theshownation bug reports system.

I know I had no attempt there but in the replay Alvarez made no attempt to ever move as did the fielder in the first video.

Re: Bases not being covered for double play.

Yesterday during an online game I had a steal attempt not being covered. There was one out and a runner on 1rst. He went and I loading my throw to 2nd but the 2nd baseman was still in the pre-steal position. It happened again later with a double steal and my 3rd baseman never moved from his position to cover third. But other than yesterday I hadn't seen that before.

For short hits into RF, my 1B is constantly off the bag -- even when there is a good chance I can throw the runner out at first. When I throw to first, the 1B is completely off the bag and in his position. I've had probably a handful of incidents in the past few days where I could have thrown the runner out if the 1B was actually on the bag.

If anyone has a solution to this, then I'd love to hear it.

That's done by design to prevent runners being thrown out in that situation.

Defensive indifference? Were you winning by say 5 with 3 outs remaining. I know theres another post similar to yours where Russell says its not a bug but defensive indifference.

How about this for a "fielding issue"...
I am playing manage only mode and with runners on first and second with 2 outs in the ninth, a routine ground ball is hit to the shortstop side of second base (it was close to the SS) when it just rolls into shallow center field... AND STOPS!!! The run scores from 2b and I lose. I watched the replay and noticed that none of my fielders moved to get the ball.

I also had a play where a pop foul is headed about 10 rows into the rf/1b line seats at Wrigley when all of a sudden the RF has the ball in his glove for the final out!!!

Re: Bases not being covered for double play.

I saw the 1B not covering the bag on a double play attempt. Ball hit hard up the middle and Johnny Peralta snares it, flips to Wong for one and then on to Adams at first, but he's nearly a quarter of the way between first and second.

That is the only time I've seen it.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I've had the catcher not issue a tag on a pitch out/suicide squeeze attempt, that was the also the final out. Instead of going to extras, Reds win on steal of home. I normally except loses in franchise, but not like that. I've saved the video of every bug I come across and make sure it gets sent over to the show nation.

I don't know how SDS handles there bugs but with Rockstar, either provide video or it didn't happen. I don't know why more of the bugs reported don't have video attached or a YouTube link. Kinda puzzling since the PS4 is constantly recording.

Yes, Orion and you are correct. I was winning and it was late in the game. I wasn't aware of that rule, but I also had never experienced it before. Turns out you CAN teach and old dog new tricks.

It's kinda one of those thing where its just something you don't do like laying down a bunt late in the game when theres a no-hit bid and your team is down by a few. It's just bad form. Those runners don't matter, let em have the extra bases.

It's not bad form to throw out a runner and is not at all comparable to not bunting in a no hit situation. It just doesn't make any sense to sacrifice the defensive positioning should the ball be put into play.

In that first video, both of the MI are set to "hold runner" rather than double play. When they break back to their normal defensive positions, the 2B didn't have enough time to cover the bag.

In the 2nd video, it looks like you might have had 1 out already and it appeared that you were trying to tag the runner before throwing to 2nd. That must have caused the problem in this case??? Pure speculation on this one...Also, it looks like the runner at 1st would have been safe so no biggie.

In the first the only thing I can think is the game expected you to go for third before throwing the ball? I don't know, maybe just a random miscue. I haven't seen anything like that and I've turn a handful of 5-4-3's

Clearly in the second vid the game just didn't allow you to get the triple play. Maybe internal logic said since you tagged the runner and made the throw you "shouldn't" have had time to throw out the batter-runner?

Catcher determines fielder indifference...not the fielder on a steal attempt. If catcher throws ball to base it is not fielder indifference. It is a mental error by fielder for not covering. If catcher does not throw and allows runner to take base...that is catcher indifference.
