I understand what u guys are saying about switching cameras but I plan on making highlights on the sharefactory app on the ps4 to make it look like ESPN highlights. I want it to look like the real thing. Making highlights from the catcher view kills it for me.

Can't make highlights when you hit .150 lol. You said you honestly feel like giving up. If you give up you can't make highlights either. The good thing is that you can play this game however you want, but no matter how many tips you get on hitting, I don't think any of them will guarantee you'll be able to make a significant improvement from that camera angle. Good luck in your efforts, though.Comment

Re: How Do I Read The Pitchers Grip? I'm Striking Out Too Much, Even On Beginner.
Lol at the first sentence. You got me there haha.
I guess I have to keep practicing and I have to tweak some sliders. I sound like a poor sport who sucks at a game and just give up but my heart tells me to be patient and that's the approach I'm going to take.
Even though the game can be frustrating at times I will not bash it. This game doesn't suck to me and I can see why others praise it. Despite me being a garbage hitter I think this is really good so I'm just going to stick with it. In my opinion The Show represents the game of baseball better than how Madden or Fifa represents the game of football and soccer. That is what counts.Last edited by UWfan206; 04-18-2015, 06:57 PM.Comment

Re: How Do I Read The Pitchers Grip? I'm Striking Out Too Much, Even On Beginner.
You know you've got a great game on your hands when we've gotta talk eachother off the ledge lol! Hitting can be an emotional roller coaster just like IRL... I agree with some of the other posters as well try a few different angles other than broadcast...I understand guys like this view because it makes them feel like they're watching a live game, but your method of trying to pick up the pitch before hand is cheating the game IMO... I'm not knocking it becuase I gave it a go, but it just didnt feel right. I wanna earn my big flies and base hits that feeling is amazing. My advice like some other guys mentioned is to just be patient. Take the first pitch to allow yourself time to read the speed/break of the ball. I've been playing The Show for years and hitting for me can be a dream or a nightmare, but IMO thats the joy of this game, its a journey and adventure all rolled in one. Just dont give up!
Well put together bro. Patients is definitely key. As silly as it sounds your post gave me some confidence because even ppl who played this for years still struggle at times. I know I'm not going to get better overnight but if I keep trying I will improve (hopefully) and if I don't I can at least said I tried. You know what screw what I said I'm going to stick with it.Last edited by UWfan206; 04-18-2015, 07:08 PM.Comment

Re: How Do I Read The Pitchers Grip? I'm Striking Out Too Much, Even On Beginner.
Why not just use the replay feature afterwards? Hit a home run, pause and go to replay, change the camera to broadcast, re-play the home run, and then use the share stuff and save the replay. You can hide all the "replay buttons" stuff at the bottom of the screen, and no one will ever really be able to tell that it is a replay and not live action recordingComment

Re: How Do I Read The Pitchers Grip? I'm Striking Out Too Much, Even On Beginner.
Actually no. Especially not plus one thousand times. Not to me at least because I want the announcers in my videos to make it look like it was captured from a live telecast because that to me makes them look more official and on replay it won't have the commentators so it beats the purpose of what I want. Plus I like how the cameras switches off to the outfield and crowd when I hit a HR just like how it does in real broadcast.Last edited by UWfan206; 04-18-2015, 07:54 PM.Comment

1) you can't make highlights of your offense hitting .150
2) you cant make highlights if you quit
3) you can play this game however you want
4) your paltry hitting is probably caused more because of the view you personally chose -- more than any other single factor (like whether or not you suck at it)
5) good luck in your efforts if you stick with it
i was 1000-timing those points. not whether or not you want to, or should, switch views or not.
by all means, you should bat with the view you prefer. the show is great for giving people choices. but you asked for opinions. most people i've read in this thread have given you the same opinion, it's probably the view, not you.
correct me where i'm wrong.Last edited by CRIP4LIFE; 04-18-2015, 09:52 PM.NFL - RAVENS

You can see pitchers grip to know what type of pitch is coming. I use pitcher center view. Some pitchers you see the grip before the windup and some during the windup. It does help to hit better when you know the pitch.Comment

actually, yes... while i applaud your stick-to-it-tiveness, what i quoted was a very good assessment:
1) you can't make highlights of your offense hitting .150
2) you cant make highlights if you quit
3) you can play this game however you want
4) your paltry hitting is probably caused more because of the view you personally chose -- more than any other single factor (like whether or not you suck at it)

Re: How Do I Read The Pitchers Grip? I'm Striking Out Too Much, Even On Beginner.
I was the one telling you about the grip in that other thread. Honestly I can see how people think it's hard hitting from that view but I actually find it easier even without reading the grip and I use zone analog. To me I can read the trajectory of the ball easier because the view is further back but honestly I'm probably in the minority.
I'll break it down for you and remember not every pitchers delivery can you see the pitchers hand on the ball before his windup. Also some grips are similar. Slider and curveball look the same.
the catchers signals don't mean anything as far as I can tell because the cpu catcher puts up multiple signs so you can't read them. And I honestly think they are jibberish and don't mean anything.
Fastball the pitchers index and middle fingers are apart I'd say about an inch
Curveball and slider the pitchers index and middle fingers are together
Change up. You can see all four of the pitchers fingers on the ball.
Splitter is the pitchers index and middle fingers split wide like the fastball only wider.
Sinker is close to the fastball I think but can't remember.
Knuckle ball is pretty self explanatory
Knuckle curve is same grip as curve but the pitchers index finger is tucked in and the knuckle is touching the ball.
That's about it. Like I said not every pitcher tips off his pitch though but alot do.
most do with a runner on base when the pitchers in his stretch stance.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

I saw a couple of highlights of guys hitting from the broadcast cam, so I tried it out and I love it. I use the timing/directional hitting, and I find that I'm seeing pitches much better. The only thing I struggle with are lefties when the broadcast view is offset, but I'm getting better with it.
There are some guys where you can't see the grip, but the ones you can I see it as them tipping pitches, which hitters look for (it's how I get rid of my cognitive dissonance).
I am the same way as you UWfan, where I want the game to look like a broadcast as much as possible. Hopefully the tips help and you can start hitting better. Good luck man.Comment
