Weird foul ball glitch, anyone?
I've encountered this twice so far, which to me is 2 times too many. While batting, a foul ball will seemingly be going into the the fans seated by the right field baseline only to hit what I can only describe as an invisible wall and be caught for an out by the fielder in pursuit. Has this happened to anyone else? Hopefully it's addressed in any impending patches Sony intends to release.Tags: None -

Re: Weird foul ball glitch, anyone?
I've had it happen a couple of times in Yankee Stadium. Both times was towards LF line. Ball is 5-6 rows in, then warps or curves to the LF who is standing right next to the fence. It's almost as if the ball was supposed to be caught, but some mitigating factor (wind?) causes it to be a foul ball, but the game compensates by warping the ball to the fielder's glove.Comment

Sounds related to this (video included):

Haven't heard of it happening anywhere but Wrigley, though.Comment

There's also a workaround of sorts in that thread. Since this only benefits the CPU, a quick team switch when you know it's coming will keep it from happening.Comment

Yeah, that one's a carbon copy of what I saw. Give my bug report from that thread an upvote if you want this to get more attention.

Re: Weird foul ball glitch, anyone?
Sorry to necro this, but I searched the board (and found this thread) and I've searched the official bug database and couldn't find anything, not even bcruise's old bug report. Has this been addressed by anyone at SCEA? I've noticed it from time to time, but just now in a tied game with two on and two out in the bottom of the 8th this happened:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cvy-6371x5g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And that was the straw that broke the camel's back. How is this glitch still in the game 3 months and 4 title updates later? Absolutely ridiculous.Comment

The boundary issue at Wrigley is not patch-able, it requires a stadium geometry fix and we can't do those in patches. The file size would be to big it's the same reason why the jumbotron's can't be added back into the game post launch.Comment

We fix everything we can within reason, time and us being able to re-produce the bug in house. If we can't produce said bug in house we can't fix it and a lot bugs are extremely obscure and even harder to reproduce. Some things we can't reproduce others are too big for patches and some are too risky to attempt to fix.
There is a workaround for normal games (not RTTS), I've posted it many times.Comment

Re: Weird foul ball glitch, anyone?
Thanks for the responses, a shame this can't be fixed. I honestly can't believe their QA team never encountered this or couldn't find repro steps considering this is bound to happen at least once every homestand or two during normal gameplay. I don't know how their engine works, but a fix for this seems like either a simple tweak to the navmesh or collision maps, or at worse, a tweak to AI behavior for foul balls out of play. For whatever reason, though, I guess that sort of fix would require an entire bake of the Wrigley files so I can understand how it wouldn't fly as a title update. Still, though, shame on SCEA SD QA and First Party QA for never bugging this up during pre-release development.Comment
