This thread could have been summarized neatly with a few tips:

Take pitches and realize what each of the pitcher's pitches look like. Keep your eye on the ball at all times. And don't go up with the notion that you're going to hit. Take what the pitcher gives you and try not to be too aggressive.

What about the people who are successful being aggressive? I have a friend that if he see's 3 pitches in an AB it was a long one. No matter if it's a ball or strike he can put a good swing on it. Hitting cannot be summarized because no two hitters will use the exact same approach with the exact same results. There are people who take too many pitches, there are people who don't take enough pitches. By pigeon holing people into 1 approach you stifle their ability to be the best hitter they can be. There is a reason why this thread has this many pages, different people are sharing different approaches. Some are similar, some are different, but I guarantee no two people approach an AB EXACTLY the same way. That's the beauty of hitting.

Just look for pitches in places u feel u are at ur best. Right now my weakness is the high fast ball. But just be patient. And Practice. Put Kershaw on Legend hit the cages. U will get better breh

I keep my eye on the ball at all times. But being that this isn't a 3-D game, it's not exactly possible to tell the difference the type of pitch until just before the ball reaches the plate, because you can't see the seams & the rotation of the baseball. (That said, I do wish the framerate could be optimized even further so that the ball comes to the plate at a much smoother animation.)

And in regards to hitting only pitches that you are good at ... what if I'm only good at high fastballs? Yet I am facing a breaking ball pitcher, and he doesn't throw me a single high fastball? Do I just sit there with the bat on my shoulder then? I think it may be necessary to change your approach based on the circumstances/scenario ...
