Man, How I can relate to this. So my solution is different franchises. I am a devout Indians fan. I always use the Indians..I don't play OL. I play LIVE, Franchise, RTTS, and have just tried Dynasty.. to solve the problem of wanting to use the real Tribe, I play LIVE version of the game..USING ACTUAL ROSTERS, PITCHERS, I try to keep it as real as possible, but put in relievers, Pinch Hitters when needed. I start off with actual line up. Try to use the same relievers if i can. The difference is I actually try to win games and not find ways to lose them like the real Indians.. and I keep track of my record and my own stats..

I have TWO franchise leagues, one is OSFM rosters filled with the minor league players i created with myself and my friends. SO I do as I please, It's my team,.. The other is OSFM rosters with no created players on my behalf. I try to keep my teams Major league players as currant as possible, But still manage my team to my preference.

It's is almost impossible to keep everything correct. CPU teams are constantly changing players, lineups, rotation, trades, injuries.. Even controlling all teams would be constant work and a never ending battle. Besides, if you did that, you would always be playing real time and could never get ahead of the real ML Schedule or everything would be out of whack.. And to be honest, I think I am a better manager than Francona.. LOL.. Then again, Don't we all..

I normally have some attachment to the players on my team, but this current A's squad, I have no problems getting rid of any of them. Except Sonny Gray, because that dude is a stud.

I never run with the hometown Cardinals. Since I follow the real season that they are playing I want some variety in my gaming world.
Through the years I've been many different teams. I just pick a team with a lot of players that I like.
This year it's the A's.

I use my team every year (the Mets).

I dont even try to match real life. I just do my own thing and take things a day at a time. And I have no qualms at all about ignoring real life events.

I always have but I always start over because of the difference between my team and the real team (O's). The past few days I've been playing play now games trying to find another team I'd like to use for a Franchise (and just do Play Now games when I want to be my team).

I never use my own team (Dodgers). I usually like a challenge so I take on a team I can build with. The last time I actually used my own team was MLB 2k7.

I have the same issue. I want like to mirror real life with trades and realistic call ups. But there are so many moves I want to make. I just feel weird trading guys away not knowing in real life if they would move this guy or that guy and if so when. Currently I am experiencing an internal struggle of whether or not to trade A Rod. I can't stand him but at the same time it is kind of fun to chase 3000 hits and home run records with a virtual player.

It is nice to see a lot of Braves fans on this thread.

I pretty much play exclusively with the Braves, I haven't played a franchise seriously with any other team since probably 2010. Even with the significant changes to the roster, I'll still play my annual Braves franchise. However for the first time I'll be starting another franchise (probably in a month or so) with another team.

I've been considering the Twins, Blue Jays, and Cubs lately.

Ok, so I think the Texas Rangers
Thier farm system isn't all that bad after all, although I already traded away 2 top 5 prospects and (Catcher Jorge Alvaro-B and SP Chi Chi Gonzales-B)and SP Wandy Rodriguez for SP Chris Archer (Rays). I think he can be a good No. 2 Starter behind ace Yu Darvish. Also his service time is low so this isn't just a short term investment.
Besides that I added Tyler Colvin - he'll be starting in LF. Another weakness was the BP, Rafael Soriano was a FA so I signed him to a 1 year deal. The last trade I made was for Philles Reliever Jake Diekmann, Phillies got Travis Demeritte (C-Potential). Both will be Setup men for Neftali Feliz.

With those changes the rangers can be a contender in 2015 don't you think? Solid rotation (with Yu Darvish being a real top shelf ace), solid line up, and solid BP and still decent farm system.

I pretty much use my team every other year. In 2013, I used the Cardinals in my Franchise. I made a lot of large trades that kind of lessened the realism. In 2014 I use the Red Sox, but only made it through about 30 games. Using the Cardinals again this year and plan to not make any outrageous deals. I would get too bored if I used them every year.

Just wondering if anyone has any trouble using their own team. I have trouble disconnecting myself from reality and cutting players and making trades. I try every year to use my Braves and was pretty excited since this was a down year, to build them back up, but it feels weird.

I use Toronto's laundry but fantasy draft. That's the only way I'll ever get players I wouldn't normally have on a roster.

I can tell you if Jason Motte gives up one more run then I'm not only gonna release him, but I will change his equipment and give him a pink glove, make him 300 pounds if I don't decide to somehow erase his digital existence altogether.

The guy can't anybody out, and my team ERA is in the top ten. I bring him in to face one batter to try and increase his confidence. CRACK!
