    Pitches migrate to the middle

I use meter pitching, and i just recently moved up to All-Star pitching after about 10-12 games. What is frustrating me is when i miss the accuracy marker (the white line), it doesn't seem to matter if i am ahead or behind the line, my pitches wind up around the center square in the strike zone, and get crushed more times than not.

is it just me, or does it not matter where you miss the accuracy marker, it just registers as a miss.

do i need to tweak my sliders? i like the skill level of veteran+ and all star (so far), my games are close, and i am in them all. it just frustrates me that all misses wind up in the middle of the plate.

on 0-2 i want to throw a change up in the dirt, but because i miss the mark, it winds up in the middle of the zone. i just had it happen against mccutchen. i wanted to throw a slider on the outside, and even if i missed the corner, i wanted it to wind up in the left handed batters box. but it hit middle-in, and wind up going to the gap.

i hope they can adjust this for next year, so that you can intentionally miss, but control the area you miss too.

i understand pitches miss the mark, and see highlights every night of pitchers wanting to hit the outside corner, and it gets crushed cause it "was left over the plate".

but the pitchers also are able to bury a pitch in the dirt. i don't seem to be able to do that.

maybe i need to go further out of the strike zone when i setup my pitches.

anyone have any thoughts on this ?

Re: Pitches migrate to the middle

I'm using classic pitching and to an extent I'm having the same problem. More times than I would like, the pitches mess were it's supposed to go. As a result, I'm getting hammered. I play on default all-star. (pitching and hitting) I've played 19 games in my franchise and I'm last in the league in era. (5.25)

Meanwhile, I'm hitting very well. I believe my team avg is .272. I'm in almost every game, but my pitching is so bad. I'm 7-11.

I thought about using meter pitching, but Idk now since you're having the same problem.

I didn't have that much of a problem pitching in last year's game. I was about the middle of the pack with the cubs.

I'm thinking about adjusting my sliders too if this goes on much longer.

I don't think the mistake pitches are necessarily *forced* to go toward the middle, but I tend to agree that in this game it seems there's more tendency for pitches to miss the target toward the middle of the strike zone than away from it.

I feel this is one of the reason why The Show has not done as good a job simulating very wild pitchers -- pitchers with poor control tends to allow more meat balls than walks, so their high WHIP tends to come more from H/9 than BB/9.

Re: Pitches migrate to the middle

I would like to see something implemented, where if you stop it in front of the accuracy mark, it goes one direction, and after the accuracy mark, a different direction.

instead right now, it seems that no matter where you stop it, it migrates toward the middle. unless you start the pitch way outside the zone.

I think i just need to start intentionally throwing more pitches "more outside" the zone, and see how that goes.

I use classic button pitching, and I have had this happen to me. I would actually aim the ball out of the strike zone but it would tail in to the strike zone and get crushed.

But it's not all the time, and it's when the opposing team is on a roll. It's a sign that my pitchers do not "have it" for that game, and I have to come up with something else. Sometimes I'll just drill someone and I feel better.
