    Failed Drafting Strategy

I drafted a team knowing like everybody else that pitching is key - however also knowing the pitching is fickle and almost random at times from year to year.

So I felt that I would concentrate of good young-ish fielder/batters and my pitching would be a bunch of good old guys that had a track record and down the road I would slowly augment with younger players as I found thing .

WELL - one thing I did not take into account and something Strat-o-matic players don't have to deal with is how fast an older player recoups his lost energy.

DANG! If you have a 5 man rotation with a bunch of 35-39 year old's you better have a 6 man rotation instead.

AND, if you have a bullpen that is really nice but are all in the 35's you better be careful as it takes those old guys extra time to get that energy back.

NOW - you take a old rotation that all of a sudden is getting tired by the 6th inning and combine that with a bullpen that has 6 guys that are taking an extra day or two to get back to full energy AND you toss in a couple extra inning ballgames while playing 17 days in a row.

    You got a problem LOL

Lesson learned and I'm scrambling for fresh arms. OH - let's not forget Hudson injures himself in the 2nd inning with a tired bullpen.

    sigh!

    Re: Failed Drafting Strategy

Maybe try trading all of them for younger pitchers? I managed to trade most of my 36-39 year old pitchers for 30-31 year olds that are a few points lower.
