Graphic Glitch concerning the Backstop Net

Found a pretty distracting graphical glitch that is remaining after the patch happening at least the Rangers Ballpark: In some cutscences showing the area covered with the backstop net and the area directely adjacent to it the crowd behind the net looks sharp while the one with no net is blurry. My question now is does this happen anywhere else? Check the photos below.

Never noticed till now. And its a cut scene so it doesnt really bother me. Im one of those people that mash X through everything though.

Most likely not a bug but a problem with using depth-of-field and transparent textures at once especially if it occurs at more then Rangers Park (Its Globelife now right?)

The game engine is roughly the same as PS3 and hopefully SDS will one day gut the texturing side of the engine like they did the lighting this year.

Pan up to the stadium lights while looking through the net for another oddity. The lights aren't illuminated.

I notice these things but can't say they bother me too much.

Yea, they do apply the depth-of-field effect to the area behind the netting but only if the camera is pulled back some, basically back far enough not to see details of the net.


Framerate is key in The Show, and its very stable. Thats all I care about.

I agree! Most likely not a bug or a glitch. Could be something they just overlooked when making the game, not that I know anything about making games, but I'm just saying it could be something simple like that.

Imagine if they gutted and rewrote the texturing code for the engine how amazing this game would look on PS4? (Even more gorgeous than it is now!) Damn.

I'm hopeful we will see it completely re-done one of these years but on the same end better quality textures normally are larger file size, which means more ram used which could cause performance issues. Cleaner better optimized code could help some but it's really a double edged sword.


Ultimately, and I really hate to say this, I think the faster Sony drops the PS3 version, the better chance we have of seeing a gutted graphics engine. Thats a function of install base of PS4 vs PS3 so until its financial not viable to release the PS3 version, it will continue to exist. I certainly don't imagine SDS enjoy juggling PS3/Vita and PS4, gotta be stretching resources thin.


I wonder if they are contractually obligated by MLB to release PS3/Vita iterations till 20XX.

For sure it's connected to the use of depth of field, but it's not implemented well there, the transisition btwn the blurry area (with DOF) and the sharply (no DOF) shown part behind the net shouldn't be so abrupt. I marked it in the photos if you guys really didn't see it . Please click on them to enlarge or even better play a game at Globe Life Park and it will all be so more obvious to you.
