    A Couple Hitting Questions

    Hey guys,

Like many people I am working to adjust to hitting this year like I do every year but am having a bit harder time this year. That could be because I am a year older and slower haha or it could be because Im doing something incorrect. I have a few questions for those of you who have been able to figure it out.

    1. With directional hitting this year, how often do you use it? I find when I am swinging at a pitch and push up and in to try to pull a home run that I am unable to hit a home run compared to if I had just pushed x without directional hitting. Don't get me wrong, I am doing great at hit and runs and such with directional hitting.

    2. Do you ever just push up? Does this help create home runs? I seem to just pop out a bunch or have some deep fly outs but never deep enough to leave the park. I am having a terrible time hitting home runs and I think alot of that has to do with directional hitting.

    3. I seem to be early on nearly every pitch. Is anybody else experiencing this? How did you train yourself to wait a second longer to swing?

    Re: A Couple Hitting Questions

For the first two, I personally only use Directional Hitting as a tool that I use situationally only when I want a ball hit to a specific part of the field.

Good examples of when I use it are in sac fly situations, avoiding some DP situations, or advancing a runner (say with a runner on third with one out and the infield conceding the run. Then I might influence a grounder to first to try and score the run).

I probably influence only 3 or 4 times total per game. Otherwise I play it like how Timing Hitting has always worked - just hitting the swing button(s).

The third question is much more subjective and user dependent so without knowing more, I can't offer advice there.

You're saying some true things here. I've been using the directional hitting as basically timing hitting and only try to use the directional part as needed. I get plenty of hits, most are ground ball singles with some doubles and triples. However home runs are few and far between. I can get all of a ball, get "Good" timing and the pitch be a fastball right down the middle and Stanton will just punch it right into the ground for a single up the middle. It's weird... It might just be me but I feel like him hitting the ball good and I'm getting hits (Stanton is hitting .351 through tbe first month) but he only has two double and one homer. Anyone else having a power outage?

Since it seems like you're hitting well I'd say just stick with it. The homers will come.

Using Classic Timing it is closely related to real life stats . Saying this, the home runs have been toned down by the GAME. Try turning up the power.

I'm definately having a much better time hitting this year than in a long time.

With trying to direct the ball to the first base or third base lines, I've had more success when it's to pull the ball rather than taking it the other way, but I have had sucess with both.

Hitting up to get loft seems to have a MUCH, MUCH bigger rate of success than in years. I guess high fastball on every pitch, and when I get one with a power hitter, I almost always attempt it now. Sometimes results in a pop up when I might have gotten a single instead, but HR's are absolutely happening in part because of it.

As far as timing, have to adjusted your sliders at all? Moving mine one bump to the right (in my favor) has made an enormous difference. I still struggle with guys who's fastballs are in the 80s, but otherwise, with some practice and paying attention, I do ok.

I'm not having any luck with homeruns either. I'm now in May in my franchise and I have hit 10 homers as a team. I haven't hit one in like 2 weeks, it's starting to get frustrating. I'm hitting good overall, but the homers are not there this year. They have toned down to much IMO.
