    3rd Basemen Range

It seems this year in the show third basemen make more plays or attempt to make more plays on their glove side than in years past. The problem though is that it seems that every third basemen no matter what their fielding ability has one step range on their back hand. They don't make nearly the kind of effort on balls down the line that they do in the hole. I don't know if it can be rectified this year but next I hope they fix it next season.

Are you saying they have range in one direction (left, assuming they are righty) but not the other (right)?

    If so, I disagree.

They have better range to their glove side which would be left. I don't think their are any left handed throwing third basemen. I know in general infielders usually have more range to their glove side. You'll see third basemen at least try to make dives on their glove side whether they get the ball or not. On the back hand though it rarely if ever happens.

There are no lefty 3B or shortstops. The physics of throwing a ball from that position in any sort of movement precludes that.

I had been thinking that the 3B had *no* range this year whatsoever. So many ground ball hits just past the glove get through.

And I've got Seager in my franchise with Bryant as the DH. There is very little, if any, difference who I put in the field.

I completely agree with this. So many balls are hit down the line where my third basemen don't even make an attempt to go after the ball. On the flip side, the CPU's fielders are Gold Glove winners. These guys get to everything and make ESPN Top Plays every inning.

I had a line drive go through Casey McGehee's head with his glove right in front of him. But I agree the range is terrible, it seems like too many hits go right past the 3rd baseman even with good fielding and they look like they're just falling over instead of moving their glove to field the freakin ball.

I have seen this in my franchise. My third basemen are getting to balls in front of the SS when they probably shouldn't be and when going towards the line if it is 5 feet away the can't get to it. Seems a little off.

                    Yeah I disagree as well.

I can tell a significant difference in good, average, and poor fielding third basemen. Arrenado of the Rockies plays a mean third base while Carpenter, my guy, is average. But I've snagged balls down the line with Carpenter, Descalso, and Reynolds who all I've had playing third.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
