What do the symbols by player names in franchise mean?

Some of symbols I get like top 50 prospect or hot and cold, but I'm confused on the others like the white background with a blue and red star. Thanks for any help.

I believe the stars mean they were on the All-Star team last year.

These confuse me too. Craig Gentry is hitting .268 in spot duty and has a red crown by his name. Maybe he's the king of platooning outfielders or something like that.

When you are on the roster screen. Hit the touch pad and then go to Help. It will give you a list of all the symbols.

Thanks for the help. The in game manual didn't explain things thoroughly enough for a first time player.

That one usually means they're leading the league in some stat.
