I don't have big issues stealing and get pretty realistic results. Just curious about everyone else's take on the matter. Thanks!

Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
So I'm a preload with L2 type and take my L1 lead as the pitcher goes home. My brother claims he holds L2 until he's ready to run and when he releases it his player takes off (I personally think it's in his head). I know many others take an L1 lead then use L2 to go (either preload or press when they want to run).

I press L2 that way the player will take off on his own based on his ratings.Last edited by HozAndMoose; 05-07-2015, 03:26 AM. -

I hold L2 until the pitcher starts his wind up and then I release it (I have been doing that for years), had no problems stealing that way. I never take a extra lead either. IMO I think there are a lot of speedy players that need there stealing attribute bumped up a bit.Comment

Re: Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
Stealing and hitting at the same time is too much of a task, so I try to have my mind made up completely as soon as possible. Either for a straight steal, a hit and run, or whatever else is possible. As for the button, when I straight steal, I hold L2 and release it as early as possible without getting caught in a rundown. It will happen is you hold L2 and release before the pitcher really winds up your runner will take off and be caught in a rundown. When I'm on a hit and run and just press L2 and then focus the rest on hitting. Pretty much, that's how it works for me.Red LegendComment

Re: Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
I just point at the runner I want to steal and pull back the L2 once (get the vibration).
I let the player ratings and the default lead determine the outcome. Makes the game far more realisitc. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
I'm having trouble sending the guy on first this year with another runner on third.... Do you point at the runner with the left stick, release the stick, then hit L2 or am I doing it wrong? Never had trouble in past games

You can lead off an individual runner the same way pre-pitch by hitting L1 instead of L2.Comment

Re: Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
Im confused. What exactly do you think is in his head? If you hold L2 long enough you will feel the controller vibrate. Once that happens the player will run as soon as you let go of L2. Which you seem to know when you say this.
I press L2 that way the player will take off on his own based on his ratings.
I guess I just never realized it would work that way. I play vibration off so maybe that's why. Good to know, thanks!Comment

Re: Stealing...how's everyone go about it?
Stealing is pretty easy with the speedy guys. In my Braves franchise, I am about 60 games into the season and I am leading in stolen bases by at least 15. I have the top two guys in Eric Young Jr and Jace Peterson. Also in the top 10 is Cameron Maybin.
