Pickoffs

Apologies if this has been covered but I couldn't find a thread for the show 15.

Is it possible to get runners out with a pickoff at first anymore? The runner always gets back standing unless I fake to first which is the only time I'll see them scramble back. Surely it should be the other way around?

Rare I'll see a runner take a lead too even though they're almost certainly going to try and steal during the inning.

Haven't picked off one at 1st yet.... thrown a few out taking 2nd...

Offline, there should be the odd successful pickoff attempt by the pitcher to 1st base put into the game's cycle of random results ! ...understandably it will happy more often online, as some players are 'run happy' and 'steal happy'

You need a left handed player on 1B. It's very hard to pick people off in this game with a right hander because they have to reach across their body after they catch the ball to get the tag.

Also I'm assuming you already are doing it, but use quick throw (hold L2, double tap base)

No I was holding L2 and holding O...I'll try the double tap. Cheers.

I'm sorry, disregard what I said. You just hold L2 and press the base once.

Right, that's pretty much what I started doing then when I wasn't getting close I was holding the base button longer thinking I'd get a faster throw.

Doesn't seem to be a good balance to it either way. Suppose it can be considered a bug.

I've never picked off an AI runner at first and I throw over kind of a lot because I like the additional pacing it brings. If I had to guess I'm 0 for 300 or so.

The quick pick off move is too random. About 50% of them are thrown over the first basemen's head. Then the normal throws are pointless since they never take a big enough lead. The pitcher/base runner game is really non existent this year.

That couldnt be more true.

I feel like the running game is basically a guessing game based on random results. Either the ball is going out of play, or the runner will get picked off.
