is the rule 5 draft glitched?

You are only supposed to be able to protect a certain number of players (ones of 40 man roster) but when the draft happens there is barely that many players to choose from (even when draft 3rd or 4th overall).

In past years there were way more players open to be taken from different teams. Shouldn't you be able to pick anyone off the minor league rosters from any team that is not on the 40 man rosters?

Selection eligibility Players are eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft who are not on their major league organization's 40-man roster and: – were 18 or younger on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fifth Rule 5 draft upcoming; or – were 19 or older on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is fourth Rule 5 draft upcoming.

OH ok that makes sense. I am guessing in past games they had more players fall into those perimeters than this years game.

It was just odd not seeing many players as I used to in the rule 5 draft.

The players that are eligible for the Rule 5 draft are generally not licensed to be in the game as they're not on 40 man rosters, and usually have no service time. If you use stock rosters I think you'll have more, but if you use OSFM style edited rosters you'll have almost none as most minor players appear as 1st year free agents.

You'll have loads of players available in year 5.

That makes total sense since this is the first year I have used the OSFM rosters and i the past used the stock rosters.
