Speed Ratings Are Driving Me Nuts!

Has anyone else noticed that MANY players' speed ratings are totally off?? I feel like there are several good base stealers like Jake Marisnick, Anthony Gose & Adam Eaton who have speed ratings around 60 (and not much better base stealing ratings). Yet the game has some that are properly rated in the upper 80's and 90's like Dee Gordon, Jarrod Dyson & Jacoby Ellsbury.

Would love to hear others' thoughts.

Also, are there any users who have created their own speed ratings that I could find??? Surely someone has posted their own version.

I just used the Sox yesterday online and Eaton was at 85 speed.

Eaton is definitely at 80+ speed at least from what I saw. It's just hit base running skills are a bit low at around 50, which is pretty accurate for him.

SBOFM rosters have addressed things like this as they have re-rated all SCEA and minor league players.

I was thinking about this and decided that speed seems to really matter for legging out infield singles and thats about it. Think about when youhit a double, most guys make it no matter their speed. Sure youll get hosed trying to stretch 3 with anybody but the burners but thats life.

Perhaps the ratings arent based on how fast they can run 90ft on a scale of a 100 but rather what percentile of the league they fall within.

I'm waiting for Williard's...should take care of the discrepancies I see also (not just in speed but defense, hitting, etc.).

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yes, my ratings which are mostly what Willard is using in his roster save for a few recent tweaks I've made will include re-rated speed. It's buttery smooth. You guys will like the speed ratings. Off the top of my head, Gose is a 97 speed, Eaton is high 80s, and Marisnick is mid/high 70s.

I also just noticed yesterday that there are a few obvious mistakes when it comes to speed. I was just putzing around the player search to see who was ranked 99 in certain categories, and when I sorted through the speed I noticed there are several players that are 99 that shouldn't be. For example Jonathan Broxton and I Heath Bell both have a 99 speed for some reason. They still have a 0 in both Stealing and BR aggressiveness and since RP rarely hit much less run in the field or on the base paths it doesnt make a huge difference but I thought it was weird. And it seems that they do indeed run that fast in the game. I started a exhibition game real quick with the brewers and pinch ran broxton once i got on base. On All Star, against madison bumgarner and buster posey, with no lead, he just barely got thrown out. Which make sense because his stealing is 0 so he got an awful jump.

You must be using a very early build of the SCEA roster. The later versions since basically the 1st or 2nd update in mid April have fixed these glaring issues. The new OSFM that is being worked on will use an updated SCEA roster as a starting point.
