Fly balls/pop ups
Is anyone else hitting into an insane amount of fly balls? It feels like every time I get out it's from a towering fly ball hit straight up that goes off the screen for a few seconds then comes back down into a glove. Mistake pitches that I'm right on just get hit straight up.Tags: None -

Re: Fly balls/pop ups
honestly the default sliders are really damn balanced this year, dont need to really adjust them much. maybe a tick here and there but they are pretty darn good at default.Toronto Blue Jays

All of the above has more or less been fixed though.
This year, I think it is still happening primarily because we are making fair contact on pitches we should not, that is, the game not producing enough foul balls on default. Too many instances where marginal (minimal) contact results in balls being hit in fair play, when realistically that type of "barely hit it" contact should result in some balls being easily foul and out of play.
Lowering the Timing slider is my solution of choice for this, though it comes with the obvious consequence of making hitting a bit harder in general.Last edited by Bobhead; 05-25-2015, 07:14 PM.Comment

Re: Fly balls/pop ups
that's always been a show problem for me, I lower solid hits to 2, and increase contact and foul balls to compensate, this way I see a lot more gap shots instead of home runs, more bloops instead of hard hit lineouts directly at the outfielder. I also lower cpu consistency 1 and also strikes 1, i think that gives a better amount of realistic pitchs from the CPU, while giving you less "crush me" pitches.
before I fixed the sliders, I saw no bloops, and maybe 1 or two low corner shots, now i see them from both me and the cpu multiple times a game. also the HRs look more realistic, they just kind of sail over the wall instead of the default sliders which seemed like a HR ball had one kind of trajectory, it kind of looked like it got out of the field in a hurry, "landed too hard" maybe is a good way to describe it.Comment

Re: Fly balls/pop ups
let me load the game i will look
ok assuming the default is 0, if I don't list them, it's default
contact- +3 (maybe only 2 if you're very patient hitter)
timing- -1
foul- +2 (this should get you into deeper counts)
human solid hits- -3
pitcher control- +1
now these ones are for cpu
contact- +3
solid hits- -3
pitcher control- +1 (so they hit the edge once in a while in 2-2 or 3-2 counts and strike you out, important because of the consistency hit their about to take)
pitcher consistency- -2
strike frequency- -1
field errors +1
field run speed -1
wind +1Comment

Re: Fly balls/pop ups
I didn't play for a few days and the last 2 days I have been playing some games and seeing a lot of pop ups, a lot more then before at least. So many in fact I checked my sliders to see if they have changed.
Other strange things have been happening also. Like the game freezing I think that has happened 3 or 4 times now. The oddest thing was my guy being called out on a 2-1 pitch ending the inning, and then he lead off the next inning like nothing happened. Also my outfielders will just stand there and hold on to the ball when I try to throw it in.
Actually when I think about it things started changing after the last patch. I change my mind from my other post when I said I didn't see a lot of pop ups now, because I am now.Comment

Re: Fly balls/pop ups
Every pop up I hit has been on "Good" timing if it isn't hit foul for no reasonComment

It could be they did make a change to hitting and maybe you need to rework your sliders?
I play on defaultI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
