Bat Noise

Nit picking here I know but does the sound the game makes when the bat strikes the ball sound noticeably different to what it does on TV?

I love the 'pop' of the bat on TV but in the game it sounds echoey/woody. Is it just me!?

If not why would the devs not replicate the real noise?

I think they're going off what it sounds like when you're actually in the presence of it instead of what it sounds like over a TV broadcast, but I could be wrong.

You're right, the bat crack is not close to authentic, but it's so much more complicated than most people think.

Just like the crack of the bat sounds so different in person than it does through the TV, to even get to TV level would mean adding hundreds of complex sound files and spending game resources on knowing which one to use with the different types of contact. In a perfect game, we would hear the homerun on contact and it would feel.. so.. good..

It's definitely possible, but it can't be high on their list considering he effort to payoff.

Other sounds that desperately need to improve are the ball hitting the glove at different speeds, the "whoosh" of the ball to the plate, the odd grunt or groan would be nice.. But there's dozens of things I would prefer they refine before worrying about sound effects.

This was the first thing I noticed back when I was wanting to switch from PS2 to PS3 back in 2008. I was amazed that the PS3 version of MLB 07 The Show sounded so much more realistic than the PS2 version did.
