Re: Pickoffs?
You are pressing L1 to take the extra step? Yes, I get picked off more doing that as you are taking a bigger than "normal" lead. I don't do it because I don't the fact that I have no control over the outcome and it seems that if the cpu throws over enough, eventually I'll get picked off.
Pickoffs really need to get some TLC next year imo. There need to be ratings involved that really limit the silly throw into the stands. It happens rarely IRL but in the Show it will happen once, if not more times a game if you throw over enough.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I have a lefty at first base (Adrian Gonzalez). And I played a guy earlier this week who kept taking a two-step lead at first base, but no matter which pitchout move I did, I just couldn't pick him off. His baserunners were above-average, but not 90+ speed demons. Here is one example where I just couldn't seem to get him out:You need a lefty 1st baseman to keep the running game in orderW with a lefty 1st baseman, you can keep them honest, because they can be caught on the extra step, especially with a left pitcher as well, but righty pitchers still can get pickoffs, just not as much of a chance. But you have ZERO chance with a right handed throwing 1st baseman, regardless of the handedness of your pitcher.

What was I doing wrong here to not be able to pick him off?
The pitcher in this play was a righty, Jack McDowell, who has a decent throwing arm with 70 strength. Is that just too low a rating to ever be able to pick someone off? Or was it because McDowell is right handed?
I feel like I should be able to pick people off who keep taking a two-step lead with above-average baserunners the entire game. But I could not throw this guy out even once.Last edited by jyoung; 06-03-2015, 11:00 AM.Comment

I'm actually seeing this a lot this year. I am unable to pick off any human players taking that extra step.I have a lefty at first base (Adrian Gonzalez). It is harder for a righty pitcher as well, but ai have gotten pick offs even with 1 step with a righty. were you using the deceptive pickoff? that is the only one I use, along with the casual. I have to be honest, I have never seen a 2 step lead before, that was pretty strange, one thing I would have done differently though was vary the timing on the pickoff, I would have held the ball for 2-3 seconds a couple times just to just to alter the timing. I also would have tried a step off and hold circle attemp as well.Comment
