Re: Too late on fastballs
Swing earlier. Lol
I usually guess if I think it's going to be a fastball and let it rip. It's made me look really stupid when it's actually a change up though.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: Too late on fastballs
I was gonna say this too!
But seriously, I was having trouble with the fastball also this year. I have gotten better though the more I play I have just learned to recognize the pitches better. I also lowered the pitch speed some, which I have never had to do before, but it helped.Comment

Re: Too late on fastballs
I'm late of fastballs now too but the first few weeks of the game I was all over them. The speed of pitches and the difference in pitch speeds makes it more difficult. For example, just last game I played the Yankees and Michael Pineda hit 97 mph with a fastball and then 80 with a changeup. It's almost impossible to hit fastballs when pitchers are giving you nothing but fastballs and changeups with 17-20 mph difference.Comment

Re: Too late on fastballs
If I had a guess, I would say it's attributed to the off speed pitches this year having more break, while also being a tad bit too slow on the speed side. (Numerous threads on the changeup this year), thus resulting in guys waiting back longer than normal, and then being late on the fastball.
I would suggest either lowering pitch speed, which then again means you're going to have to stay even further back on off speed stuff. Or trying to recognize fastball counts and starting a little earlier.Comment

Re: Too late on fastballs
To not have to do crazy edits you could just do one team at a time. If you have a series vs the Cardinals you could just edit their players.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Too late on fastballs
I'm experiencing the same, I could barely time them at all lately, was pretty hard to hit without being able to hit any fastballs lol. Maybe that's partially to be attributed to my ability to hit any kind of offspeed pitches pretty well.
I could locate them well but I was always late. I had to spend some hours in practice mode to get my timing right again, actually I'm still slightly late on them most of the time but not too late to get some solid contact.
Especially inside fastballs, on default pitch speed I pretty much have to pull the trigger as soon as they are leaving the pitchers hand in order not to be lateLast edited by geisterhome; 06-03-2015, 02:48 PM.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Too late on fastballs
You're all going to think I'm stupid or high but this works. I tend to focus on the ball in the pitchers hand, which would be a common sense approach. However, every pitcher has a different repertoire before delivery and I'd get HYPNOTIZED waiting for the pitch and locking my PCI on a designated spot. Ie Sounded like a strike. Now I look around the infield for a split second, usually at the shortstop or 2nd baseman as the pitcher of deception does his thing. i don't move my PCI until he starts his delivery otherwise I flinch and I'm nowhere near the pitch. It's all about thinking too much.
I don't play baseball anymore because I'm too old, but I play golf. Golfers can appreciate this. You get up to the Par 3 and you know this your 1 in a trillion chance to get a whole in one. You address the ball and start thinking about keeping your arm straight, head down, looking at your feet, maybe wiggle your butt. The whole time your staring at the ball, taking eternity to hit it and when you do it goes to the next fairway. Now you go to the next fairway walk up to the ball and just hit it so you can get the hell out of there because you can't be seen by others on the next fairway of a par 3. Next thing you know the ball is on the green. Just relax and do your thing. I still strike out but that's because I suck, but my hitting is improving.Steelers, Penguins, Penn State, Pirates, Red Sox, Manchester United.Comment

Re: Too late on fastballs
If you can get used to hitting from the pitcher view you can tell if the fastballs coming by looking at the pitchers grip on the ball.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush
