MLB The Show 14 Vs. MLB The Show 15
Is it worth upgrading to MLB The Show 15. What are the biggest differences?Tags: None -
Re: MLB The Show 14 Vs. MLB The Show 15
I didn't, sounds like there's a few more bugs, or glitches whichever word you'd like to use. Could be another patch in the works tho which may take care of some of them.
To me from reading the forums it sounds like graphics and the lighting were among the most successful of upgrades.
Just read the forums when you have time and you'll get a good idea of this year's game. Certainly a good game but to me wasn't worth the upgrade imo. -

At the surface level, yeah, pretty much. Graphically, 14 looks washed out compared to 15; the licensed gear also adds a nice touch. Overall, the graphics upgrades alone are worth the upgrade. With that said, there are a few things (already covered in several threads) that need to be ironed out, which is why I still occasionally go back to 14 to have a very enjoyable experience. Put it this way, if someone asked me to borrow 15 and I had to play 14 instead, I be OK with it.Comment

For me carry over saves was enough (I don't have to throw away my existing franchises or not get the new game).
The ball physics seem better (on hits and stuff).
I don't particularly notice the graphics so much (they've always been fine for me from 13 to now). Too busy trying to hit and pitch, etc"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Vs. MLB The Show 15
In MLB 15 it takes longer for a scout to bring back results on players.
The progression/regression system is still the same and this is the biggest problem for me.
The most underrated feature is the directional hitting. When I first heard about I though, meh, but now I quite enjoy messing around with opposing defence.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Vs. MLB The Show 15
If I had it to do over again, I would pass on MLB 15. 14 was fun and 15 is just frustrating. Other than Diamond Dynasty and graphics improvements, the changes in 15 are either features I don't care about or things I wish they wouldn't have changed.
I absolutely hate everything that has been done to hitting in 15. Other than home run numbers being low, my hitting stats are realistic and not that far off from what they were in 14, but hitting in 15 just doesn't feel satisfying.
Repeatedly balls that are crushed with good timing and centered PCI, that you know would be home runs in 14, die at warning track in 15. Then you'll get cheap home runs where PCI isn't even on the ball and timing is off. I also continue to experience occurrences of good timing and centered PCI resulting in weak fly balls to the outfield. It has the overall feel that player attributes play a larger role than user skill. I'm using zone hitting.
The new dynamic pitch breaks are for the most part overpowered caricatures of their real life counterparts. Differences in pitch speed between change-ups and fastballs are larger than they should be. This combined with dynamic pitch breaks has resulted in junk pitchers being more effective than the elite pitchers in the game. Its to the point that I would rather face Kershaw or Bumgarner than Jason Marquis. As a result, from both the CPU and online play, you can expect to see a steady diet of change ups, sliders, and curve balls. I rarely see fast balls in the strike zone.
The swing feedback has been changed(neutered) to provide less information and hidden from view.Comment

<ul>
<li> Gameplay AI Enhancements; It pleases me to say that the AI does now use the hit and run more often, take the extra base when a throw misses the cut-off man, and when the infield is in, its in - runner beware</li>
<li> New Hit Varieties / New Animations / Emotions - Line speaks for itself</li>
<li> Graphic Enhancements and Lighting (very noticeable difference)</li>
<li> Radio Broadcast. Some dismiss but I hope they continue it and build it. Keeps me more in-tune with my season, performances and scores.</li>
<li>Roster Editing. It's almost all there. Still like to see hair growing on the head and face as season progresses but we can edit so much more now. Especially salary and years</li>
<li>If you have 14, you can import over your save file and continue. You can also forward to playoffs, end of season, then import later if you like.</li>
<li>Diamond Dynasty is so much more this year. The card collection process has improved over 14</li>
<li>Online performances sound much better than previous iterations</li>
<li>Commentary Enhancements - I know they don't get credit but I've heard things during the month that sounded new and informative. Sometimes its brilliant. Matt talks about the team's current situation and what has happened. Mostly, will still be repetitive. Karros and Lyons can become annoying and in need of just giving statistical info. I do appreciate the new vocabulary and timing the devs have been adding to it.</li>
<li>Presentation Enhancements - They've changed the presentation from 14. In a way, they put their version of "speeding up the game". You'll also notice the players stats appear at different times such as after 1, 2, or even the third pitch.
<li>Licensed Equipment - Not sure how important this is to you. You're probably aware that this site has some fabulous roster editors who ensure that each MLB player is wearing the correct equipment. </li>
<li>Defense Enhancements - In 2014 I played defense on Auto. This year, they tweaked it (still needs work) better. You'll see the improvements immediately. </li>

This is after 1 month so I say yes. I'll let you know of anything new next month if your still debating. Good LuckComment

I thoroughly enjoyed 14 & am immensely enjoying 15.
If money's no problem, then upgrade. Otherwise 14 is still a great game.
And when you do decide to upgrade the Year-2-Year Save feature will still be there waiting.T-BONE.

Re: MLB The Show 14 Vs. MLB The Show 15
I've played about 150 offline franchise games and here are my thoughts:
Graphics: there's a clear upgrade and the addition of the licensed gear is a nice touch. It really does add to the game for me.
Fielding: I auto field...and if you do you'll notice an HUGE step forward on the fielding animations for the infield. The outfield didn't get the same type of attention and it's needed for MLB '16.
Franchise: there's not that much of a change besides the radio show and quite frankly I hope it didn't take up a large amount of resources. It's cool but at the same time I'd much rather SEE what went on around league, not hear it.
Stat tracking: it still needs some attention...bad
Scouting/draft: needs attention and an overhaul...bad
I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase of MLB '15. By my 150 games played...you can see I have invested a great amount of time into the game. There are issues but I don't see half the issues I read on these forums. Do some things stick out here and there? Sure they do. This game does too much right though.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
