CPU Manager Hook

So my only big gripe with gameplay right now has to do with the CPU controlled team's manager. Every game I play, the other team starts warming up a pitcher to relieve their starter at ridiculous times. My current example is a game against the Marlins. Going against Alvarez on full stamina. He's thrown 50+ pitches through 4 innings. I only have 1 run off of him (6 hits, which is sort of high... but this has happened with fewer hits). To leadoff the 5th, I get a single. Now they've started warming up a pitcher. I don't see this happen very often in MLB, especially with proven starters. They don't always take the pitcher out early, but it really bothers me for some reason that there's someone warming in this situation.

Would the CPU manager hook slider help with this? It's not a major issue by any means, but it's been bothering me enough to look for some help on how to get it to stop. If it can't I'll just have to deal with it!

Yep, that's exactly what it's there to adjust. I think I have it on 3 in my sliders

Just moved it down to 3 before I read your post. I hit a 2 run homer with 1 out in the 6th to make it 3-0 and they pulled Alvarez with less than 80 pitches. That's not unheard of but still....

My only worry with moving the slider down is for relievers. It seems like relievers get left in too long, but that may have something to do with the fatigue of other guys.

I haven't really noticed any issue with relievers being left in.. if anything I'm seeing more instances of guys only staying in for a batter or two.

Keep it at 3 for a while and see what you think. I've seen some funky bullpen usage, but overall I think it's pretty good.

I think the starter stamina slider has a lot to do with when the CPU manager starts up the bullpen, along with manager hook. I have starter stamina at 4, reliever stamina 0 and manager hook at 5. I play CPU v CPU only and the managers will not warm up the bullpen until the 6th...sometimes the 5th if the pitcher gets in himself in trouble and is approaching 80 pitches. With the reliever stamina set at 0, the CPU manager tends to stay with the starter more and only long relievers (with stamina ratings over 50) will pitch more than one inning. So routinely, starters will go 7+ if effective. In my last completed season, 20 pitchers (10 in each league) threw over 212.0 innings. (AL leader=Verlander 230.1; NL leader=Kershaw 233.0.) Leaders in complete games...Buchholz and Archer, 8 in the AL; Kershaw 7 in the NL. K's=Scherzer 295, AL and Fernandez 288 NL. Saves=Holland AL and Jansen NL both with 58. I am older, so I tailor my The Show experience to reflect the baseball I grew up with in the 70s and 80s, when pitching dominated. With all that, I still had only one 20-game winner (Kershaw 20-11, with NL-leading 2.05 ERA, Cy Young Award). AL Cy Young went to Buchholz 17-8, 3.00 ERA. But there was offense! Batting champs-Cano .324 (AL MVP), Tulowitzki .324. Home runs -C. Davis 41 (Cabrera would have hit 50 or more, but was injured in mid-August; wound up with 40 in 119 games.) W.Ramos(!) led the NL with 40 (NL MVP; Nats won World Series, 4 games to 2 over Red Sox). Stolen bases-Mastroianni 64, AL and Hamilton 57. Good pitching creates small ball. Anyway, didn't mean to ramble on; just showing the results using the above slider settings. Oh, if you really want a realistic experience concerning defense, drop your Fielder Run Speed and Fielder Reaction to 0! I have found with these sliders set at 0, the players' defense ratings really make a difference. The best defenders will get the best jumps, in both the infield and the outfield.
