What was your most recent draft class in Franchise mode?

With the Rangers I just had an amazing draft that I wanted to share. I'd also love to see everyone else's.

Robert Aoki is just a low C potential but I'm very excited about him. Contact and power is both is the 60's and vision, discipline and clutch are all in the 70's. Fielding is very low. To me he looks like a good, cheap DH. And a switch hitter too.
MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox
    NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors
College Sports: Pittsburgh Panthers, Penn State Nittany Lions

I used to get excited about great draft classes like that until I realized that they completely kill the long term enjoyment of franchise mode.

When you get a deep class like that, it's as if you're replacing every star player in the majors with a single draft class.. You were grabbing superstars into the 3rd round, so between 65-90 rookies entered the league with superstar potential.. And who knows how many had potential in the 80's.. That's ridiculous.

If it were realistic, you should be thrilled to get a high C potential college(21-23) SP in the bottom half of the 1st round who will be ready in about 2 years.

I know they're condensing 40 rounds of amateur draft, international amateur signings, and international pro signings into a strange little 7 round draft (that runs out of humans somehow), but it needs to be overhauled badly, it's been terrible since the first year of The Show.

All you need to do is update potentials. I would do a quick league wide potential update every season anyway. Potentials are terrible in this game. Far too many A and B potential players

With the #2 selection in the draft with Colorado I wanted to go with a power arm who could be a frontline starter...but I just couldn't pass up this amazing bat.

        1B Russell Rissolo - 6'1" 218, 19 yrs old
        73 overall, 94 potential

        ConR/L: 74/81
        PowR/L: 62/67
        Vision: 60
        Disc: 49
        Clutch: 60
        Durability: 82
        Speed: 47

Horrible fielder but I couldn't help myself playing at Coors. He's going to start off in AA and we'll see how fast he can climb the ranks.

Well, if you like terrible draft classes, you'd love the one I had this season in my Marlins franchise.

1st round - exceptionally raw 21-year-old. High potential but probably will not reach it before he's 29.

2nd round - mediocre 23-year-old that will be lucky to post a 4.50 ERA. Lots of holes and small upside.

3rd round - 21-year-old that might develop power and that's about it.

4th round - 19-year-old that will probably be average and 25 by the time he reaches his ceiling...if he does

          5th round - 19 year old that's projected to make the majors...at 29. Yep.

6th round - 23 year old that I'm probably cutting the instant I can - not even worth taking a flyer on.

7th round - didn't even have a player for me to pick.

That's not the problem. The problem is you know you got a superstar in the making in the 3rd round.

The other problem is that, chances are, he'll reach that ceiling.

And another is that players have little chance to break out and surprise to the upside - and to do so, they have to perform first (get the "stock is rising" email) and THEN their skills go up. What?

2 years. Not 8. Not 10. Potential is hardly the only issue.

Sure, give me 40 rounds of interesting kids that might catch a break and come out of nowhere or flame out. I'd be up for that. But if I'm only going to get to add 7 prospects to my team every year, 6 of them can not be terrible and need 10 years to become average.

Just curious, but how would we do an update? Would it be manually?

Just run through each team, sort by potential, and try to assign a realistic amount of A's, B's, C's, and D's for each team.

Obviously, it should not be "even" for each team, but as a whole, each team should have roughly 0-3 A's, and 8-12 B's.

Just did the 2016 draft with my Rangers team.

Update on my 2015 5th round pick, Robert Aoki. As I said, I rushed him to the majors to DH, because of his hitting attributes. He is playing well batting .299/.382/.459 with 7 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Update on my 2015 5th round pick, Robert Aoki. As I said, I rushed him to the majors to DH, because of his hitting attributes. He is playing well batting .299/.382/.459 with 7 home runs and 34 RBIs.

When I draft players like Medina, I usually edit their potential to match their overall.

I don't do that because there's way too many good players in the draft as it is.. but what you're doing makes sense..

The idea that a 20 year old has developed into a MLB level players, but is projected to immediately start getting worse and regress to a AA fill-in is ridiculous..

It's a very lazy way to simulate a draft bust, I guess.. But even a draft bust just fails to get better, they don't actually get worse at baseball..

On the other end, you have a 39 overall with 99 potential.. That makes even less sense, especially when it's a 24 year old.

The entire Draft system need to be rebuilt from scratch, and as soon as they put some time into it, this will be the best franchise mode in any sports game.

Go to the roster for each team and you can edit any player in the game.

Just go to the manage roster screen press X i believe on the player and then go to edit.

I edit the jays equipment often. Donaldson is always mixing up his accessories and being OCD those little details matter way too much. Lol

I sometimes feel like I'm editing more than I'm playing.
