    Astros missing draft picks?

Just got to the draft in my franchise and I noticed the Astros are missing a few picks...

    - #2 overall pick (May be missing because the draft is programmed for a specific amount of picks so this pick would put it one over?)
    - #37 overall pick (CB A pick from Marlins)
    - #46 overall pick (Second round pick)
    - #79 overall pick (Third round pick)

These are just off the top of my head. I can understand the #2 pick not being in there, but why on Earth would our Comp pick, Second rounder, and Third rounder be missing? It's ridiculous because those picks are all crucial, but are overlooked for some reason?

    Please explain SCEA.

Haha playing as the Cubs they didn't have a second rounder for some reason. Maybe all the teams are missing picks or something so its fair. Of course its not good and I hope it will be fixed.

There shouldn't be missing picks for any team, in my opinion. Even if I'm the Astros, I want every team to have their picks in the draft. I'm just OCD about that kind of stuff. Lol

Yeah I remember seeing some discrepancies between the first draft in Franchise and the real 2015 draft. Not sure why but yeah it's kind of bothersome, especially if you are playing as a team missing a good pick.

          Re: Astros missing draft picks?

Last year on PS3 someone made a franchise save that they uploaded that was an opening day save. It included teams real life picks. You can't have franchise saves on PS4 sadly so the only way to replicate the real life draft is to manually trade draft picks between teams yourself in the beginning of the season.

Perhaps we can write a list of what picks teams have by default in the 2015 rule 4 draft and then write a guide to make it more realistic for at least the first few rounds.

I'm not sure if the roster I used for my franchise made draft picks switch. I'll look at it again with default roster but that's my draft for year 1. The last rounds look good but the first few definitely need some draft pick trades.

By trading draft picks, you mean whoever the team picks, to trade him to whoever was supposed to pick at that spot in real life? If only we could trade the actual picks themselves so there's a work-around.

I believe you can just trade the picks. Last year you could that's how the franchise files were setup.

Curious to see/hear why SCEA made the draft this way. What benefit does the game gain from having inaccurate draft order beyond the first round (if you're ignoring the Astros #2 pick)?

I would think the draft order is programmed to work the same way year after year to allow for continuity within your franchise.

It's not a stretch to assume it's possible that customizing the draft order in year one and then going to a consistent order in year two and beyond would be difficult to do.

It's just that in order to get an accurate draft order if you exclude the Astros #2 pick, starting in Round 2, you'd have to trade so many players to other teams because they didn't actually own that slot. Which leads you to think: would they have actually drafted him in that position or would they have drafted someone else?

Idk. My OCD is pretty strong when it comes to things like this. So when I'm the Astros and my 2nd and 3rd round picks are missing, along with the #2 pick and Comp A pick, it kind of irks me. But again, I understand why the #2 pick was not added. There are 30 teams in the MLB, but only 26 picks this year in the 1st round. Would be too difficult to predict a new amount of picks every year, so I don't mind the 30 picks every round thing.
