Re: When do you use the power swing
Never with 2 strikes...use it with 2 outs and no runners or runner on first...guys with high plate vision and 50ish power...when looking fo middle-in on 2-0, 3-0, 3-1 type counts with a hitter that can get it over the wall...when looking for a specific zone like down and in to RHH when they want a double play.
Contact swing only with lower than 65 plate vision, 2 strikes, and runner on 3rd with less than two outs...
Normal swing all others or when in doubt.Comment

Re: When do you use the power swing
If I have a guy that has some power and I guess right then I will use it, but typically just use normal or contact with analog. If I have a high swing an miss player like Bruce then I will occasionally use the power swing even when donw in the count. I probably hit about as many Hr with just a normal swing as I do power swing anyway, if I were to guess.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: When do you use the power swing
This is my usual routine (zone hitting, BTW):
- Indicator in the middle of the plate until I get 2 strikes
- Don't swing unless the pitch centers the PCI
- Power swing if I get the pitch I want, where I want it
- Normal swing with 2-strikes
- ...this is when I think I won't get a strikeout pitch but can handle it
- Contact swing if I have low ratings and it's 2-strikes
- If I have a low rating guy (like <60 contact), I use contact with 2 strikes to avoid any K's
This allows me to get a decent number of walks (being I'm looking for a pitch the start/middle of the AB) and also makes the pitcher come to me. I simply need to time my swing if the pitch hits the middle of the zone then it's "box" away!
SpoilerDid this earlier with Cameron Maybin in my franchise; had the bases loaded against Matt Harvey, I never moved the PCI and waited...with a 2-1 count, he threw a 97-mph meatball and I power swung it in the bleachers for a grand slam.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: When do you use the power swing
I use a normal swing most of the time. I use a contact swing when I'm behind in the count or if the batter has REALLY poor stats (eg like a pitcher in an NL game).
I use power swing so rarely, I'd estimate you would only see me use it once every 1000 swings or so. It's for the rare occasion when runners are on base in a close game, I'm way ahead in the count and I KNOW what is coming. There is a lot of risk with power swing, especially if you're trying to avoid the double play. I hit tons of home runs with normal swing.Comment

Re: When do you use the power swing
I rarely use Power Swing. Maybe once in a blue moon I'll swing for the fences, but mostly I use normal and contact.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: When do you use the power swing
I almost never use the Power swing. I will sometimes use the contact swing if I have two strikes on me especially with runners in scoring position. The rest of the time I was the normal swing.
This is pretty sad, but I think I have hit more home runs with the contact swing than I have with the power swing.- LETS GO RED SOX!!!

Re: When do you use the power swing
this is really interesting to me because I only use power swing and I hit fine. I have a good avg and hit a lot of HR's on first and second pitches. I only use regular swing with two strikes with low contact guys like Edwin or Chris Davis rarely. Never contact. The follwing are my stats off their DD cards with over 100 abs

Jeff Bagwell 113 274 9
Chris Davis 436 266 43
