The truly off-putting fact in all this commentary talk is that, despite all their flaws, 2K baseball games from about 2011 on had a lot more seamless commentary where it didn't sound like unrelated lines stitched together. The biggest thing 2K did right towards the end of their baseball line was that the announcers would actually say players names--and not just [name].....is now at the plate.......[hits/at bats] in the ballgame thus far. They would give pitchers, batters, and fielders names edited fluidly into lines about catching a ball getting a hit. or However they did the editing, Sony really needs to take notice. I think the commentators The Show has (mostly Matty V) are ok but their lines and the editing (or lack thereof) is what needs to be fixed. If 2K can do it, I'm sure the guys at Sony are capable.

Re: Commentary Thread
This is what the game is dearly missing. They need to completely remove at least 60% of the individual lines triggered by a specific things (we don't need a line every time a pitch touches the dirt, for example), and replace them with general analysis about the game as a whole, or the season as a whole, or whatever else.Comment

Joe Buck? Please no. As for Dan shulman, I prefer Gary Thorne. I watch Dan on Sunday nights on espn and he sounds too bored, like he doesn't want to be thereCFB-Florida Gators and UCF Knights

Ex. Travis Ishikawa's walk off 3 run homer to send the Giants to the WS, hardly any excitement

Re: Commentary Thread
I agree, but Buck and Shulman are the top play by play commentators in the game today. Shulman has shades of excitement, but for Buck it could be game 7 of the World Series and someone would hit a walk off home run and he would still show no excitement.

Re: Commentary Thread
I don't think that changing announcers is going to improve the commentary in the game, its only going to give you a different voice to listen to. If you bring in 3 new announcers, then you have to have them re-record every single line that is in the game, which would mean, I think at least, that you lose a year of having new lines in commentary. The commentary needs more depth, not a new voice.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Commentary Thread
I am one of those people who now shut off commentary and throw spotify on.
Ther just isnt enough detailed in depth talk, i want more information and stat talking, talk about who won cy young last year, or blah blah u all get the point im not alone in this.
Off note to but also more cool unique triggered cut scenes, there are a few, but i want more moments like "oh man ive never seen that before". Maybe some more manager vs umpire fights.
And stop making my ultra sick closer drop his glove on the way to the mound like an ultra idiot.Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
But imagine what the radio announcer for the Giants sounded like, he was probably going nuts. Each teams own announcers are much better than ESPN and FOX announcers cause they're biased but still. My Pirates announcer Greg Brown delivers the best calls for the moment. Those back to back extra inning wins against the Cardinals before the All Star Break were nuts. Should check them out.Comment

Both. Needs more depth and Matt has been there too long. It needs a new voice to give it more life.

Re: Commentary Thread
"How important is it for him to throw that curveball for a strike today?"
Every game, every first curveball that isnt a strike. Every. Single. One.
Its the commentary like this that is super annoying. The seemingly off the wall descriptive stuff, that is awesome the first few times... but when its always triggered by the same event, every single game... jesus.Comment
