Someone mentioned it earlier in this thread that I agree with is that one of my main gripes with the commentary is how often some of these lines get triggered in certain situations. I don't need to hear from Lyons(?) every single game about how important it is to get ahead in the count with the first strike.

Re: Commentary Thread
I honestly haven't used the commentary for years. I don't think I will go back either. I just want stadium ambience improved. I want to feel like I am there.Honestly after now being close to 100 user played games in my Show15 Franchise, I have completely muted all commentary in game. The lack of variance is absolutely startling! For an example, EVERY GAME I have pitched, in the first inning, when my pitcher gets 2 outs, Matt states "You'd have to say, so far so good for the rookie/veteran" GTFO of here Matt, its tired by now!! It's just them spamming the same lines all game, every game and offers nothing to the product at all, just annoyance. Not to mention that they NEVER mention anything to do with my current season (pennant races, batting titles, whether a team is defending champs, etc). it's awful. I now just play with stadium sounds on and I'm content LOL. Has anyone else completely given up on the commentary in this game?Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
Heee struck him out, his 7th of the ballgame, and with that, the inning is over.
But seriously, these guys don't even sound remotely interested in calling the games, and every time dialog is triggered, it's longwinded and is repeated at least every game.
I don't get how they can't reference a player or team's RISP avg during a crucial at-bat, or talk about the last time a batter faced that pitcher. There's so much downtime, have them talk about ballpark food once in a while. Analyze how a pitcher is working, and actually correctly mention it, like predict a wipe-out slider if it's been an out pitch all game. Plenty of great ideas in this thread already, talking about big signings your team made last year, or recent trades would be a huge boost. But that all starts to bleed into the barren wasteland of a franchise mode, so I'll just stop here.Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
I would like it ( i just clinched my second consecutive division title) for the commentary to include stuff like this... going into a playoff clinching or division winning game there should be more talk about it.
this brings up the whole mention of the pennant races in the game... if your team has a magic number of say 20 or less every game you play they should make a mention of it and be able to keep track of what your closest team in your division is doing on that day.
if they play later, who is starting for them their opponent, etc etc etc.. just like you would hear in real iife... it is called scoreboard watching in September...
If your team is about to clinch the division their should be a ton of focus on it... have the commentators mention it, talk about and show guys in the clubhouse prepping the teams clubhouse for the celebration.
We need cut scenes of as the team is celebrating of the other team soaking it in from the dugout. as we know every manager will force their team to do this.
i have a ton of ideas as most of you may know i am a presentation whore so to speak... i want our game to mimic and mirror the on tv experience in every way possible...

Re: Commentary Thread
maybe they need to take in some NBA 2K video game time and see how is done... ive heard theirs is the talk of the walk.. or FIFA i have heard from people that it is really good too...Heee struck him out, his 7th of the ballgame, and with that, the inning is over.

Re: Commentary Thread
The Commentary in MLB the show continues to be very bad year after year with hardly any improvement. Ok maybe "Bad" is the wrong word to use but it's just so boring, not exciting and completely boring to listen to for more then a few games. Every year I keep turning it off after a few games or so. I just like to play with the stadium ambience on however even the stadium ambience in MLB The Show is also very much still lacking big time. It's pretty clear to me that the audio is the least important feature to the Sony team. Maybe I am wrong but to me the audio in MB 15 The Show PS4 version barely sounds any better then MLB 07 The Show on PS3. I don't know how the audio developers of that other famous now canceled baseball game pulled off such amazing Commentary and stadium ambience. That games audio really sounded like a 100% real life baseball game from the play by play booth and stadium ambience. I have been playing MLB The Show from day 1 and the audio is always a big topic of concern around here for good reason. I have pretty much given up and come to realize it is what it is.
I don't expect MLB 16 The Show to be any better.Last edited by tnixen; 09-10-2015, 03:03 PM.Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
It happens SUPER frequently. The dialogue needs to flow better like 2K, when an out is made (or a timeout is called) the transitions should be smoother.

Re: Commentary Thread
I wonder if it's possible for them to just remember what they were talking about? (or... just continue talking into the break).Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
Sometimes it seems like it. For example, when they talk about the circle change - now and then there's like a "part two" to that conversation even if I'm throwing fastballs or whatever.
This would be great - something like a "let's pick up where we were before the break" sort of thing.
I also think the "hold on a run might score" might be replaced with the "while we talk..." sequence that often plays when a HBP or SB happens while a conversation is going on - then go pick back up with the topic they were talking about - like "Steve/Eric, want to finish your thoughts?" Or something like that?"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
After watching some of the mlb playoff games on tv it reminds you how terrible the show commentary is. I hope the developers can get some new announcers and have them speak with live emotion in the big moments.Comment

Re: Commentary Thread
It's still pretty bad. After about a week or so I turned off all the commentary which I never do for any game. Went and turned it back on and quickly turned it back off after ab 10 minutes.Comment
