Throwing using the buttons
I use the buttons to throw. I hardly ever get an accurate throw. It seems like every throw from the outfield is offline and I throw the ball over the 1st baseman's head with Dustin Pedroia at least every other game. What's the technique to it? I thought you just pressed the button?! I think holding the button down longer makes them throw harder, but most of the time I just tap it for Pedy to throw to first and it sails into the stands................Help, please!Tags: None -

Re: Throwing using the buttons
If you have the meter set to "off" then all you have to do is tap the button and ratings will determine the accuracy and speed of the throw (so it says in-game); if you have the meter set to "on" or "hidden" then how long you hold the button has a direct effect on the throw.
As for technique, if you're using "on" or "hidden" I find it pretty intuitive - somewhere in between 0.5-1 seconds is the sweet spot, 2 seconds is usually too long, and tap is usually too short.Comment

Re: Throwing using the buttons
I am not sure what I have set, but I will look. It can't be determined by ratings because Pedroia is a standard gold glove at 2B and he overthrows from 10 feet away almost every game. Thanks for the advice!Comment

Re: Throwing using the buttons
-Queueing up a throw too early will result in a vibration and a less accurate throw
This is especially true when throwing from the outfield.
To get optimal accuracy, wait for the fielder to be set and ready to throw (which is logical). There's a risk-reward system in place, particularly i the infield; rush throws are less accurate, but necessary to stop speedy baserunners.
So basically, just wait a little longer in general before pressing the button to get more accurate, but slightly urgent throws.Comment
