*SIGH* Budget (After Each Season) is officially BROKEN in this game; and random.

I'm becoming very annoyed with this. After each year of your franchise, your results truly do not matter; when it comes to increase / decrease in your budget (from ownership).

I just finished a season with San Diego. 108 wins. Won the World Series and everything.

    Ownership gives me this message.

    "BUDGET DECREASED"

"Based on your organization's performance this season, the Padres player salary budget has been DECREASED by 9%"

What the hell is this?? I lost 17 million in player salary because I won the freaking World Series?! What kind of garbage is this?

I decided to test it with the Pirates... Team ends up going 75-87 (Appears McCutchen missed most of the season with a knee injury, also had Cole have a bad season and Marte got hurt for about 1/3 of the year)...

Their message to me? Salary INCREASED! By 7%!

Seriously? Budget is broken. It's quite frustrating!

Simple really, San Diego had never won a World Series and clearly that's how they liked it, they're just making sure you don't make the same mistake twice.

Was this after your first year? Are you using the game defaulted contracts? Or are you using real life contracts? That has an affect, I read on here.

Personally, and to get really nerdy here, I wish the game would account for inflation. They have contracts that increase incrementally per year, but what's the point when the game doesn't account for inflation? What's the point if team budgets are more correlated to team performance in season. Over time every team's salary increases. Unless your the Braves and you get sold by Ted Turner to AOL then flipped to Liberty Media for tax purposes. And Liberty cares about the books more than the product on the field as compared to the Angels and Tigers owners who are what Ted used to be about. Win at all costs. I digress. The hurt hasn't healed.

Did you add any money to your budget with stubs?

Its happened IRL before, just ask Marlins fans about winning a WS and having your team dismantled because of owner cutting payroll

That does make you think that the budget issue is screwed up, but its also possible being a small market team that its maybe designed at times to cut a team budget even with putting out a World Series winner, and it has happened IRL.

Also depending on what roster you are using, that could be the cause. If using a roster with real salaries for players could be cause to what happened to you too. A good way to tell would be using 30 team control and looking to see after the year where all other teams payroles were at, along with record and budget.
