The last time I didn't play as the Braves was in All Star Baseball when I used an expansion team from my state.

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I'm also a Nats fan, and while it's great to have baseball back in DC, I don't like paying them in the game. Like the OP I watch almost all of their games so I like to play other teams and it gives the game a completely different feel.Comment

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I've always played the Jays, but I'm not afraid to make trades and build them into a team that truly is mine. Also, fantasy drafts can help spice things up if you want to keep playing your favourite team.
That being said, I often toy around with the idea of playing an NL team. I barely ever get to see the NL parks playing the Jays. I remember actually getting to play a series in Busch stadium near the end of my 2015 season, and it was amazing. If I ever do pick up an NL team, it'll probably be as the Mets. I would also consider the Giants, but only if I were doing a fantasy draft.
Cubs would also be a nice pick for the park, but I have no attachment to the team whatsoever and would be left with 0 motivation.Comment

Franchise with Yankees, Season with Marlins, and RTTS to whatever team drafts him. Luckily this year my 2nd baseman "Rocky Peoples" got drafted by the Yankees...Comment

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I technically don't have a local team - just a baseball fan in general. I need my MLBN because of it, otherwise maybe I'd just watch the Royals who are the closest and "local" team some 3 hours away.
I've lived in San Diego and liked them before Preller blew them up but I don't have to worry about "oversaturation" since I don't live there anymore. I didn't want to play with their new roster and thought some of the moves were not what I would have done so I wanted nothing to do with them. I also wanted a break from NL rules. I've also been a White Sox fan in the past but am not fond of Ken Williams and Hahn's moves were trash this off-season.
I also usually want to play with a team that is not so good and with players/personalities that I like. So, I knew AL and also with intradivision I wanted AL Central. For personal reasons, MIN fit my thoughts but no way was I playing with them or the Tribe. I hate Detroit. So, that left me with CWS and KC. I tried CWS for awhile. Couldn't make it 2 weeks with them and maybe I'll sim some stuff with them but it will take a while to fix that team. I'm trying KC now. More fun to play with, for sure.Comment

Mets. Always Mets. I couldnt imagine playing with anyone else.
The only drawback is becoming emotionally attached to players IRL and having them underperform in your 'chise. I can be very hard to make roster moves with them.
As an example, in my 'chise Colon was stinking it up so I ended up trading him to KC for a couple prospects...then in real life, he went on a nice little run(obviously earlier in the season) and I wanted him back!Let's Go Mets!!!Comment

Always Marlins sometimes Mets. When I do play as the Mets I'll take Stanton with me. First thing I do with the Marlins is get rid rid of Loria, I know owners aren't in the game, and make myself the owner/gm/manager and use some of my stubs for a nice budget increase.Comment

I've never played a non-30-team control franchise and have never not mainly controlled the Mariners/played the Mariners games, while managing the other 29 teamsComment

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I have the Cardinals and play them as close to real life. It is a pain to not use Wainwright and Adams. I do have Kozma down and Garcia up.
Then I have the A's and I play them as my own team. Make realistic trades to help me, even though I did trade away most of who they traded in real life.Comment

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I always have one with my favorite (or one of my favorite teams [Red Sox, Nats, Marlins] ).
Then I'll play with another team that I don't hate but usually don't run with (this year it's the Rockies, last couple years it was the Rays)"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Do you guys play franchise with "your" team?
I tend to start a franchise with the Cardinals, but around this time of year I get the urge to start with someone else. I feel like my affection towards the organization and the players clouds my judgement when playing, and I can't get rid of guys even if they don't produce.
Usually my other team has been the A's, but this year I'm going with the Orioles.Comment

Always the Phillies. Which puts Phils fans like me in a unique (bad) position for, really, the first time in the history of the game since It became "The Show": The IRL Phillies unequivically suck for the first time.
I absolutely could not bring myself to send Chase to the Dodgers yesterday. And so I broke my own unwritten Chise rule, which has been to mimick RL rosters as closely as possible when it comes to the home team.
