Number of times I've been thrown out taking an extra step: at least 15.
Number of times I've thrown a ball into the stands: at least 20.
Number of times I've picked off a CPU runner: zero.

    Good stuff.

There's some things pickoffs can't buy... for everything else there's Mastercard?

The throw into the stands has to go. You may see that once or twice in the entire major league baseball season and I'm including every game played, yet it happens far too often in the Show.

I would like to see them replace it with balls thrown in the dirt, to side of 1B, and other things such as that.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

That is one of the things that keeps reminding me I'm playing a video game. It reeks of one of those "balance" things to "keep people from throwing over" but it's very unrealistic. Even the commentary makes it seem like it should rarely happen with how shocked they are.

Just like the CPU's instant reactions and perfect timing to picking you off if you take your lead at a certain time. Just like how slowly you're allowed to lead (I hit the button to take an extra lead and the runner doesn't do it for about a second, which is close to the time the CPU can get it's perfect-reaction-throw off on you).

That combined with the "defense is ready so your chances are lowered" thing doesn't make sense. I shouldn't have better chances with a 50/60 stealer than a 95/99 one because 'the defense was ready' for the second guy. Please. I swear it input reads for when you're stealing, but I can't prove it.

At least in MLB14, the blade cut both ways with the CPU taking extra leads. Now the CPU doesn't even do that, yet can succeed stealing - it's like they just made extra leads pointless since you can steal successfully without them. Why?

I wish they would return the leadoffs to how they were in '14 but then clean them up and make it a cat and mouse game. And I think there only needs to be two types of pickoffs, quick where you're trying to get the runner out and then normal where you're just keeping him close. They also need to implement a pickoff rating for pitchers, so I know who has a good move and who is Jon Lester.

The other thing I want is to let the entire situation be user controlled and not a roll of the dice. Let me press R1 to dive back into the base/return to the base. It keeps me involved and plays out a better cat and mouse/chess scenario then what we have now.

Supposedly there is a pickoff rating. I've read about it on the forums a few times - it's just hidden (it shouldn't be - that's a known/scouted thing about pitchers).

I agree with the R1 control. We can call for a steal even on auto baserunning and call for leads on auto baserunning, why can't we get back to the back on auto?

If there is indeed a hidden rating then I'm with you, it needs to be made "public" as teams scout pitchers and know who has a good move and who doesn't.

Yeah, I honestly never understood the reason as to why the user doesn't have control over getting back to the bag on a pickoff move.

Definitely hoping to see changes in this area for MLB '16

Re: Is Picking Off The Computer Even Possible?

There is something going on with pickoffs behind the scenes for sure. I can't tell you how many times I have hit the R2 button early, and sure enough the cpu throws over and picks off my guy.

If I don't time pressing R2 right the guy gets picked 9 times out of 10. Something is amiss behind the scenes on this.

PS: I have been complaining about that throw into the stands thing since the second time I saw it!

If the cpu has the tying run on first i never risk a pick-off play because you know you have a more than good chance it's going into the stands which is ridiculous because you should not be throwing that many pick-offs into the stands and i can't figure out why this cannot be fixed, it is really the only bug that really "BUGS" me.

Yeah I just finally started playing again after having the game since day 1 and today I noticed that picking runners off IS not possible IMO I tried to pick runners off in one game atleast 100 times to see if the animations even changed and no the runners never slide back or anything just take one step or two steps back and safe. And I also noticed the first baseman sometimes will have the ball before the runner is close to first and wont. Even try to tag him. Its ridiculously dumb lol
