    Too Many Homers?

Anyone else feel like there are way too many homers at the end of games?

Seems like the game almost forces these "wow" moments to make games more exciting. If I am up late in the game against the CPU, I give up a homer. If Im down late, I hit a homer. The forced excitement makes the game very boring to me because I just wasted 7-8 innings building a lead to watch some computer scrub tattoo a breaking ball off the plate for a homer.

If I was just giving them up then Id assume its me just getting lazy and having it cost me. I dunno, a lot of things making this game not nearly as fun for me as it normally is.

Not here. I've had plenty of 1 run or tied ball games in the late innings that have ended on anything but a homerun. Double Plays, strikeouts, walks, a few errors, station to station small ball, doubles, even a triple or two. And yes a handful of homeruns, but nothing that seems overblown or too many.

Pretty sure this sentiment is completely dependent on 1. your skill level/way you play the game and 2. your sliders. I always shrug at these absolute statements because there is way too much variety in how people play and which interfaces they use for there to even be the possibility of "game play thing x always happens in situation y." People are also notorious for small sample biases especially when it results in them losing.

That second sentence needs to be bolded, underlined, and put in neon letters.

On top of the fact that different difficulties, input methods and play styles yield different results, keep in mind that pitchers ARE effected by close games/tense situations/late innings. That is what the Clutch rating represents, and the lower it is, the more ALL other stats are effected by a tense situation (including HR/9). That is why clutch is THE MOST important stat for late inning relievers, but since there isn't anyone with 99 clutch every single one of them is still going to have reduced stats in a close game.

Maybe next time don't throw the breaking ball, or do what you have to in order to ensure it stays well out of the zone. Remember that everything about that pitch is going to be worse in a tense situation, including control and break. Maybe it's ok to throw if it's their x (best) or o (second best) pitch, but if it's their square pitch, stay away.

I don't think I am seeing enough lol. In the last 7 games for example I have only seen 5 HR between the 2 teams combined and I fell like that is not just the last 7 games but just over all.

                  Re: Too Many Homers?

Short answer, no. My only gripe is the suicide squeeze which seems to be unstoppable to me. I lost a handful of games late because of this.

Well you see, I ask the question to other players who play the game, who you would assume play in a somewhat different way than I, to find out if its a problem that occurs across playing styles.

The fact that people actually quoted and liked your "I always shrug at these absolute statements" line when there was a question posed is mind boggling.

Im pretty stubborn in terms of sliders, I feel like I shouldnt have to touch sliders if the game is made correctly, which again I realize is pretty stubborn. Maybe I should give changing stuff up a try.
