How are we supposed to used the PCI in Zone Hitting?

I have always been playing with directional hitting this year and button hitting the years before but wanted to get a little bit more control as Im a bit tired of my batter making good contact but popping it up or hitting it into the dirt.

I tried playing with Zone once but im a little bit confused as how i am supposed to use the PCI?
Since it obviously doesnt cover all of the plate, do you try to guess where the ball is gonna be hit, place the pci there and then dont move it or are we supposed to have it in the middle and then while the pitch is being thrown and we see where approximately it is going to land we move the pci to the estimated location?

Also what is the best PCI design to use and what are the differences/pros and cons between the different ones?

You are "supposed" to react to the pitch and move the PCI accordingly. But there are many, many players here on OS who just leave it in the center. There are also some who use it in a "guess pitch" sort of way, just pick a specific zone and target only that zone.

Personally I do the first thing, that is react to the pitch and just hit the ball where it is. It's the most rewarding imo, and the reason I use Zone in the first place. But the choice is yours.

As for the second question, I play with no indicator at all. Pros? You can clearly see the pitch as it comes in.

You might want to play with the indicator turned on at first though, until you get used to the sensitivity and methodology associated with moving the PCI. It might sound silly (all you do is move it duh), but with an incoming fastball that gives you only milliseconds to react, you want to make sure you are moving the PCI to the place where you intend to move it.

Whether temporarily, or for an extended time, if you play with an indicator, I recommend the one that is simply an outline of a circle. I'm not a fan of any of the "sort-of-transparent" options, because I want to just be able to see the ball with no obfuscation whatsoever.

I'll usually leave it the middle and wait for the pitcher to make a mistake, but sometimes I'll guess where the ball is going to go.

I've tried reacting, but I've had very poor results with it. My advice: try both and see which one you like better!

Try batting practice and use the 'bat control' mode. It shows you the approximate pitch location so you can practice seeing the ball out of the pitchers hand and moving the PCI to that location.
