Should I stick with my RTTS?

I'm new to The Show series and jumped right into the Road To the Show game mode. Made a LF and got drafted by the Red Sox. In year 2 I got called up due to injuries to play RF for a couple months and all was fine. But now that those guys aren't hurt anymore I'm mostly used as the DH and get the RF start about 1 of every 3 or 4 games, which isn't terrible, but I was also starting to build my guy to be more of a CF (was going to request a trade before I realized that the CPU doesn't care about any of your trade requests), so I feel like I'm just being wasted. I'm also afraid if I hit a slump in batting for a while they will stop using me as the DH and I'll play in way less games (especially since I'm really not that good at batting).

So basically I'm torn between continuing with what seems to be a sub optimal build for an outfielder or starting a new one. I figure I'll either make a 1B and just do all the batting or possibly make a speed CF so I can get used to stealing bases and whatnot (maybe a SS though since OF can be boring). Also, any tips on how to handle RTTS better so I don't get stuck in these crap situations is welcomed

IDK about that. Thats the only way I have ever been traded. Ive had to request it. It usually has taken a couple weeks to a month and a couple requests, but Ive always been traded when I have requested it.
Stick with your guy. Build him how you want him. Its not always goin to be lights and glamor. Sometimes you will have to ride the bench. Just dont miss your chances when you do get to play. It sounds like your story is a good one. The not knowing what will happen next. Will you start, will you play everyday, will you get your trade and become a star for another team..... never know, you may get traded and come back and rob that game winning HR from a Red Sox.........

    CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

Perhaps you had more seasons under your belt/statistics than I? Any time the trade request was available I would do it and they'd say "they'll look but nobody is interested" basically. Since I played LF I knew I had no chance of cracking the ML roster with Ramirez there. Obviously now I'm at RF, but again I've wasted points on speed and whatnot thinking I was going to move to CF and request a trade. I was even in a situation where in AA I was being benched because there was an OF with better potential than my guy so I was trying to request a trade religiously. Eventually when they moved me up to AAA I was the starter (odd logic).

But again, that is part of my problem. Since I started building my guy to play CF my hitting stats aren't as good as they could/should be, so I struggle against good pitchers (I've been simming games and only playing in the games where the opposing teams SP is in the middish 70 ovr range). I've seriously been trying to get traded since the beginning of thie RTTS. I'm thinking maybe other teams interest in you is based off of what you have shown, but if I'm stuck on a rotation in the big leagues, and don't have as good of hitting stats as I could, I can't really "show" what I can do

That's also true, and part of the reason I want to stick with it. But I've read horror stories of guys not being able to get traded and their stats declining because they don't get enough playing time to raise them. This is also my first experience with a baseball game in literally a decade, so I want to try the infield/strictly a power hitter/pitching as well (but I'm not really interested in doing a franchise currently).

And on missing my chances when I get to play...that's part of my problem lol. I suck at judging if pitches are going to be in the zone or not so I swing at way too many pitches. And when I am able to judge it correctly my timing is usually off. It seems like my brain can either focus on the speed of the pitch or on where its going to cross the plate at, not both. I understand it's not supposed to be easy, which I like, but any time I face a good pitcher (talking above 80 ovr) I strike out 8 times out of 10. Not grounding out or popping out, straight up going down swinging.

I'm using pure analog btw. And if I didn't pump my Pvis up to be in the 90s (with item boosts) I fear I'd be even worse at batting

Well I currently have a 1B guy, and he is leaned more to a power hitter. He is fun to play. I made him more like Jim Thome, but I model my attributes after Rizzo of the Cubs.

Something else you could try, and work with it for a few dozen games before giving up, find a position of need on your team. Are they weak in any area, that you could switch to (IE SS or 2B). Try to become a utility guy. IF/OF. Never hurts to be able to play many positions.

As far as hitting goes, it just takes practice. Dont be afaird to move the difficullty down, or make solid hit or timing better with the slider. Im not big on simming, so idk if that is a direction I would take personally. I'd play every game that you can get into. A lot of players careers start off slow, maybe your guy is one of those. Worse case, your guy will retire at some point, and then start all over at a new position. Bottom line though is the game is ment to be fun. If you arent enjoying your guy, yes by all means, make a new one. I actually wish my guy would have struggled more (and he did at points) but I am having fun with him and thats what matters. I am thinking if I ever make another guy or a different type player (contact/speed guy) or a pitcher, I may make it harder for me so I do get the struggles to make it as a big time player. Which by the way, my 1Bman is by no means a superstar yet. But that is my goal with him.

Yea, I considered that. They have a big hole at short stop but the game won't allow me to move there (says I don't have the skills for it, even though I have solid fielding and arm str). The biggest hole is actually at RF, but I am currently competing for the spot with a CF at around the same ovr as me (and I believe he has A pot while my guy is a B). I think I am going to stick with it, but knowing I will hopefully move teams (even though it's nice to be on a winning team) so that I can play CF, because as of now all my arm str and speed attribute just seem useless.

I am having a little bit of fun with it, but am concerned that I may be having more fun at a different position. either at first where I could focus almost all my attributes on hitting or at shortstop where I could get more action on defense. Or even making a starting pitcher (and I like the idea of seasons going by much quicker).

I typically like more realism in my video games so I don't really mind the struggle, but it does get just a little bit frustrating. That and since this was my first RTTS I can learn from my mistakes on the first guy and carry into my next players.

But I sure would miss redneck Bubba James. It'd be great for his story to get traded to a Texas team lol

Thanks for all your input man
