    RTTS last names

is there a way to possibly get names added to the list?

the one that i find odd is Ripken is not even in the list.(i tried making a Cal Ripken) and Ripken is not even in the list so i cant.

also i would like Carty added if i could since there was a player named Rico Carty who played 60s-70s
    Toronto Blue Jays
    Toronto Raptors
    Las Vegas Raiders
    Toronto Maple Leafs

Licensing issue, maybe? Ripken isn't a very common name and if they don't have the rights to use Cal Ripken, they might not have a case to use the Ripken name, unless another player named Ripken were to emerge. Or if there were any Ripken's who played MLB in the past that weren't related to him specifically.

    Just speculation on my part.

There should be no rights issues. Every year or so a thread starts to add names to the list. Just have to get it added for them to do it. They have so many names they just wait for people to request them. They dont even have all the MLB players last names.

I'm not so sure it isn't a licensing issue. For example, many names are present with different spellings -- Maddox/Maddux, Matsusaka/Matsuzaka -- but notice how there's a McGuire last name and no McGwire? That may be due to not having a license to use Mark McGwire in the game and the unique spelling of his name would reflect his likeness if he's the only MLB player ever to spell his name that way. If they could add names at free will, I doubt they would leave out McGwire as an alternate spelling.

Another reason I'm not so sure is because they have names like Littlefield in there. I can't see any reason other than the above where they would decide Littlefield should be included and not the last name Ripken. Whether people ask for Ripken or not, his name would be in the game if they could add it without isues.
