    MoM and difficulty Level

Now someone posted this in a topic we were talking about and he quoted this from a thread from 2008. Now it is merely speculation and nothing to start a fight or bashing about. I thought it was interesting and hopefully Brian or such can chime in. The Q and A was:
Q: Brian stated prior to release that difficulty level makes no difference when playing Manage Only Mode. Yet, many on this board claim otherwise. (SoxChamp)
A: Yes, it makes no difference. I'd like to keep answers brief, but I'll elaborate with a riddle. Notice that in Human vs. AI, the Human's difficulty depends on his own setting and the AI's difficulty depends on the difficulty setting of its opponent. In AI vs. AI, what's the difficulty of its opponent?

Here is my answer to the riddle. You are not playing AI vs AI in MoM mode. You are still controlling a team essentually. Now I do agree if you do not have a controller set to a team (IE leaving it in the middle) then yes the answer is there is no difficulty. However, the controller moved to either side, you are then controlling the team. You may not be controlling the actual players, but you are controlling the team, and each pitch if you choose to choose where the pitcher pitches, if the batter is to take the pitch, bunt, etc. Or, whether the base runner should steal or not. So imo, you are controlling a Hum side.
Again fellow forum friends, this is not a fight, so please do not turn it into a petty arguement. Ive been thinking about this since posted and would like a constructive thought about it.

    Re: MoM and difficulty Level

Difficulty in MoM is the same as a CPU vs. CPU game.
There are no difficulty levels(selectable) in Manage only Mode games.
In fact.....MoM started as CPU vs. CPU in which the devs forced the AI to let the USER make decisions.(that's why the CPU used to bunt on it's own....and other plays were called on it's own(way back....maybe '09?...'10).
They have since refined it to limit the AI working on it's own without the USER allowing the input on decisions mostly.
This mode was actually introduced as a sort of "gift" for Kolbe's(former SCEA now EA dev) father who wanted to play the game...but like me didn't want to actually "play" the game.
I'm not sure if the level is Veteran or All-Star...but it's one of the two.

      Re: MoM and difficulty Level

That is great information, thank you for the insight and the time and info. I too love to play MoM in franchise. This is only my 2nd year playing The Show, so I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this. So, then if it is indeed cpu vs cpu, then you have no input to Hum sliders then, bc it has no effect, correct?

Correct....the CPU sliders are the ones that effect both CPU vs. CPU and M.o.M. games.
(and the ones that cover both...wind....injury ....etc)

I am pretty sure the difficulty is All Star. Based on our earlier conversation about the default level that is the base line for the other levels. It would seem to me that would be where the CPU would "play" itself.

I'm fairly certain as well....I just never got around to asking Ramone or Brian about it....so I hedged!

Brian isn't just a guy who works for SCEA. He is senior AI programmer. If you are ever fortunate enough to have a conversation with God and he explains how the universe works - believe God.

I remembered Brian posting that and then it became a matter of searching for the post.

And in case anybody is interested, I'm using default sliders in this year's version playing all the games, no quick counts. My team isn't good but the gameplay this year is solid.
