You're supposed to carry X amount of each position for A/AA/AAA.... if you don't does it matter? Is there a negative effect/penalty?

Like say you traded all your CPs - hypothetically - or all your catchers....... does it field a team somehow regardless?

I'm currently short a AA SS so I was curious

I pay attention to my AAA lineups and make sure that players aren't playing tired. The more tired they are the more likely they are to suffer an injury, and suddenly your backup player is out for the season and you can't use them if any of your MLB players go on the DL.

Obviously this is easier to do if you have a full team.

It doesn't matter if you don't have a full roster or every position player, the only thing that matters is that you have 4 lineups filled out for every team. however if you want to run a franchise effectively, make sure your rosters are full and have all positions covered.
